Leaning towards her, I replied, “I’ve been trying them all day.”
Mina playfully pushed me back. “I’m talking about my beer.”
Frowning, I glanced from her to the beer stein on the table. “I thought I did.”
Nibbling on her lip, Mina said, “No, I’m talking about the beer I created.”
“Whoa, hold on. You created your own beer?”
She nodded. “I know it’s weird for a girl to dream about owning her own brewery, but I have since I was a little kid. All my happy memories were tied to it at festivals and parties.” Looking diplomatic, Mina replied, “I also have a non-alcoholic line.”
“You are seriously amazing.”
“It’s just beer.”
Shaking my head, I protested, “The hell it is. I can’t even begin to imagine what it would take to come up with your own recipe, brew it, and package it.”
With a shy smile, she argued, “And I wouldn’t have any idea how to stand up on ice skates, let alone actually skate while using a hockey stick.”
“You’re too modest.”
“Maybe.” Tilting her head, she asked, “If you can wait until after closing at nine, I will let you sample all I have to offer.”
Groaning, I replied, “Who in their right mind would say no to that?”
It was going to be a very, very good night.
CHAPTER SEVEN: MINA
After giving me a very chaste kiss on the cheek, Gavin went to meet up with his friends. Rory must’ve been tracking his every move because I’d barely had a chance to start clearing the table when she appeared with Annie in tow.
Wagging her brows, Annie said, “I hear you took my advice.”
I wrinkled my nose. “Do you honestly think I would’ve gotten busy with Gavin out here in the open air?”
Annie shrugged. “I happen to be a big fan of voyeuristic sex.”
Rory’s eyes bulged in horror. “I think I could’ve lived a lifetime not knowing that.”
“You’re in desperate need of any kind of sex in your life,” Annie clapped back.
Holding her hand up to Annie, Rory turned her attention to me. “He asked you out, didn’t he?”
I didn’t look at her. Instead, I kept stacking the plates. “Come on, Mina. Spill it,” Annie demanded.
Jerking my gaze up, I stared at them. “If you must know, yes, he did.”
While Annie squealed, Rory shocked me by smiling. “Good for him.”
My mouth dropped open in shock. “Excuse me? You can honestly say that when you were a bitch to him by over-spicing his food.”
At least she had the decency to blush. “In my defense, I thought he was just playing you.”
“How on earth could he do that when he had his kid with him?”
“It’s a classic move men do. Like using a cute dog at a park to lure women in.”
“Well, Gavin isn’t like that.”
