“Kit.” Lydia scowled at her playfully. “Shut the fuck up.”
That, of course, only made Kit laugh harder, and Lydia flipped her off as she tugged Zann into the bedroom to get their stupid onesies.
The others had already finished changing by the time they got in there, and she smiled at the way Zann high-fived Michael and the others as they gleefully skipped out of the room in search of wine and pizza. They added their sweatshirts to the pile on the bed before pulling the onesies on over the rest of their clothes, and she arched a brow at Zann as she grabbed the flaps of her jumpsuit and tugged her close. “Not so bad?” she checked as she started to zip her up.
“Not so bad,” Zann confirmed.
“Good.” Lydia stole a kiss as she finished zipping her up, and nuzzled her cheek as she flipped her hood over her head. “There. All done.” She stepped back and raked her lower lip between her teeth as she drank in the sight of Zann in her outfit. The whimsy suited her in a way she hadn’t expected, and she couldn’t resist leaning in to kiss her again. “You’re adorable.”
“I sincerely doubt that, but thank you,” Zann murmured as she reached out to return the favor and zip Lydia up. “I’d wonder how on earth Kit even thought of this, but…”
“She’s Kit,” Lydia finished for her, smiling as a burst of laughter exploded from the other room. “Do you think we should worry about that?”
“We’ll find out soon enough, one way or another,” Zann said, her eyes bright as she flipped Lydia’s hood over her head. “There you go. Perfect.”
Lydia rolled her eyes and tucked her hair behind her ears and down into the hood. “I’m glad you think so.”
“I do.” A gentle smile tipped Zann’s lips as she gave the edges of her hood a playful little tug. “I—” She sighed as another burst of laughter erupted, reminding them that this stolen moment had already lasted longer than it probably should have. She tipped her head toward the door. “We should probably get back out there.”
Lydia wished it wasn’t true, but she knew that someone would come loudly looking for them if they didn’t join the group soon. “Yeah…”
Michael greeted them with a grin, two empty glasses, and an uncorked bottle of merlot when they returned to the living room. “These are for you. Jack and Steve will be bringing pizza around, so get cozy because the movie night is about to start.”
“What are we watching?” Lydia asked, surveying the room as she grabbed the glasses from him while Zann took the wine. Aspen and Eve had claimed the largest sofa, while Bonnie and Alder were camped out on the loveseat, so their only option was to make themselves comfortable among the nest of blankets on the floor.
Awesome.
“Aspen won the toss, so—”
“Toss?” Lydia asked.
“Coin toss to see who got first pick,” Kit explained as she slipped past them to start handing pizza boxes to everyone. She waggled her eyebrows. “Nice outfit, Silva.”
“Kit, stop,” Lydia said, and was relieved when Kit chuckled and mimed zipping her lips. Thank god. “So, what movie are we watching?” she asked as she led Zann toward an empty spot in front of Aspen and Eve’s sofa that looked just big enough for them to fit.
Aspen grinned. “A Knight’s Tale.”
“Then Legally Blonde,” Eve said.
“And Pitch Perfect,” Alder said as she hit play on the remote to start the first movie.
“Do you really think we’ll get through all of those?” Lydia asked as she handed Zann the glasses so she could sit, then took the bottle of wine from her so she could join her.
“What good is a sleepover if you’re not staying up all night?” Aspen replied.
“Fair point, I guess,” Lydia agreed as she settled in next to Zann. She very much doubted she’d stay awake through all of the movies, but she wouldn’t begrudge the brides-to-be their fun.
Kit appeared in front of them with three small pizza boxes in her hands and a grin. “All right, y’all. We’ve got Hawaiian, pepperoni and sausage, and veggie. What’ll it be?”
“Hawaiian,” Lydia said, holding her hands out. She laughed at the pained noise Zann made and arched a brow at her. “What?”
Zann grimaced. “Seriously?”
Lydia sniggered as she took her box from Kit. “Pineapple on pizza is delicious.”
“Pineapple on pizza is wrong.”
“What?” Michael gasped. He tipped his box toward Zann to show that he, too, had opted for the Hawaiian. “It’s the best!”
