Zann pretended to gag. “It’s really not.”
“Kit,” Alder said, her tone unimpressed, “sit your ass down so we can start the movie.”
“I need the lovebirds to stop fighting so Zee can tell me what she wants,” Kit retorted.
Lydia laughed as Zann huffed and made a grabby motion at Kit. “I’ll take a pep and sausage, thanks.”
“And now I’ll sit,” Kit said, sticking her tongue out at Alder as she tossed the veggie at Steven and dropped onto the blankets next to Shannon.
“Thank you,” Alder sassed.
Lydia didn’t miss the way Zann was looking at her pizza as if it’d personally offended her. She grinned as she grabbed a slice and held it out to her. “You sure you don’t want a bite?” she taunted. “It’s really good.”
Zann rolled her eyes but gamely leaned in to take a bite. She looked like she was resisting the urge to spit it out the whole time she chewed, and shuddered when she swallowed. “Yep, still disgusting.” She grabbed the wine they hadn’t yet poured and took a long swig straight from the bottle. “God, I must really like you,” she muttered as she wiped at her mouth with the back of her hand.
Lydia laughed and leaned in to reward Zann with a quick peck on the lips. “I’m glad,” she whispered. “Because I really like you, too.”
“And I really like this movie,” Aspen drawled as the movie started.
Lydia shared a guilty look with Zann but couldn’t resist stealing one last kiss before pulling away. “Sorry,” she apologized.
Eve smiled. “No, you’re not.”
Lydia held Zann’s gaze as she confirmed, “No, I’m really not.”
Zann groaned when she was pulled from sleep by the now familiar feeling of Lydia’s lips against her throat, but it wasn’t a happy sound. Because now that she was awake, she was painfully aware of the ache that had settled in her upper back in the handful of hours since she’d fallen asleep.
I am too goddamn old to sleep on the floor like a teenager, she thought as she rolled her shoulders back and twisted from side to side.
She smiled in spite of the knot between her shoulders at the feeling of Lydia’s breath cascading ever so gently across her skin in the wake of her kisses, and tangled her fingers in her hair to scratch at her scalp as she rasped, “I’m game for lots of stuff, baby, but doing it in a room full of our friends might be a step too far for me.”
Lydia huffed a laugh. “Me too.” She shifted against Zann’s side to nuzzle her ear. “But trust me—you’re really going to want to see this.”
“Mm, kinky.”
“Zann…” Lydia chuckled.
Zann’s heart gave a happy little flutter when she pried her eyes open to see Lydia gazing adoringly down at her. She licked her lips as she lifted her head to kiss her. Ouch. “Morning.”
“Good morning, beautiful,” Lydia murmured. She looked so soft with her hair rumpled and her cheek wrinkled from where she’d been using Zann as a pillow, and Zann swooned when she stroked her cheek with the backs of her fingers before pressing ever so gently against her chin to turn her head to the right. “Now, look—”
Zann pushed herself up onto her elbow and glanced at the unicorn-clad bodies sprawled around them. The loveseat was really only big enough for one person to sleep on, and Alder was sprawled across it with her right leg up over the back cushions and her left foot dangling over the arm. Bonnie was on the floor in front of the loveseat, spooning Stella, while next to them, Steven and Michael were in a similar position. Eve and Aspen were perfectly adorable, snuggled up on the couch above them, with Aspen’s arms wrapped securely around Eve’s waist and Eve’s hands fisted in the neck of Aspen’s onesie, and Jack was just behind Lydia, contentedly dreaming in a little nest of what looked like every fucking pillow in the place.
How in the hell did he steal all of those?
Zann blinked the sleep away from her eyes as her gaze drifted to Kit, and she giggled when she realized what Lydia had wanted her to see.
Kit was sprawled on top of Shannon, which would have been hilarious in its own right just because of how much shit she liked to give them, but what made it better was that she was straddling Shannon’s thigh and drooling on her tits. Thankfully, said breasts were still securely tucked into the ridiculous unicorn onesie Shannon was wearing, but still. This was a fucking goldmine of material to tease Kit about.
“Oh my god…”
Lydia hummed and laid back down against her side with her head on her shoulder. She rubbed Zann’s stomach as she asked, “Worth being woken up for?”
“Absolutely.” Zann reached for her pocket for her phone, and swallowed a groan when the move reminded her that she, too, was still in a fucking onesie and didn’t have pockets. And, because of that, they’d all left their phones on the kitchen counter so they didn’t accidentally get stepped on or anything. “Shit.”
“No blackmail?” Lydia murmured knowingly.
“Yeah,” Zann pouted.
