Monster.
A man she should've stayed the fuck away from.
Her fingers loosen around mine.
My chest goes hollow.
Then Callie walks past me. Straight toward Mercer.
I follow a step behind her, my gun still trained on him.
“Callie.”
She ignores me.
Of course she fucking does.
Mercer lifts his head.
She stops several feet away. “You.”
Mercer blinks.
“You kidnapped me.”
Bishop makes a sound behind me. One I’ve never heard before.
Callie keeps going. “You tied me up.”
Mercer's eyes narrow.
“You chased me through the woods.”
“Callie,” I say.
She holds up one finger.
I shut my mouth. I don't know why.
“You pulled my hair.”
Mercer actually looks confused now.
“And you ruined my shoes.”
I stare at her muddy, soaked shoes.
Jesus Christ.
Mercer coughs. “You're fucking crazy.”
Callie puts her hands on her hips.
Then immediately winces and drops one because her shoulder hurts.
“You should probably stop saying that like you're the normal one in this situation.”
Bishop clears his throat.
