I look through the bags, frowning. “Why the fuck are there six frozen pizzas?”
“You’re welcome.”
I look up at him. “I don’t eat this shit.”
“You do while you’re grounded.”
“I’m not grounded.”
Beck looks around the isolated cabin, then at me. “No truck. Can’t leave. Boss says you have to stay here until he says otherwise.”
I glare at him, not saying a word.
He chuckles. “Your murderous silence doesn’t intimidate me, Hot Lips.”
I fold my arms over my chest and stare at him without blinking.
“Still not working.” He pulls his phone out. “Want me to ask Bishop if you can have screen time?”
“I’m going to hit you, motherfucker.”
“Threatening violence. Wow. I thought we were friends.”
“Do you have anything to say I’d actually wanna hear, Motormouth? Or are you just here to annoy me?”
“Relax, Lips. I have an update.”
Beck gives me the rundown. Bishop’s people cleaned the target’s house. The witness’s body has been handled. They dealt with anything I left behind—including my blood.
My truck’s secure. Nothing’s been traced back to me. That’s all I need to hear.
The second Mapquest takes a breath, I cut in. “Then why the fuck am I still here?”
“Because Bishop said two weeks.”
“The scene is clean.”
“Yep.”
“There’s nothing connecting me to it.”
“Apparently.”
“Then I’m leaving.”
“Nope.”
I stare at him. “Why the fuck not?”
Beck grins. “Because Bishop’s the boss.”
“This is fucking bullshit. I—”
“You were a bad boy.”
“Just because I didn’t follow protocol doesn’t mean I should deal with this shit.”
Beck raises his brows. “That’s exactly why you’re grounded, Hot Lips.”
