Seeing What’s in Front of You

“Good morning,” he murmurs back.

“You look surprised.”

“I feel surprised,” Dean confesses. “It’s hard to wrap my head around everything that’s happened and how smooth it’s all fallen into place. This feels like a fairy tale or something.”

“I’m happy to be your prince.”

“Charming,” he says with a grin, kissing my cheek.

I get out of bed and start grabbing my things so I’m ready to jump in the shower once it’s my turn. “What will you do today?”

“I have no idea,” Dean says with a groan. He flops back onto the bed, staring up at the ceiling. “This is by far the most impulsive thing I’ve ever done in my entire life. I have no idea what I’m supposed to do now.”

“You could come with us to the coffee shop.”

“I don’t want to get in the way.”

“You wouldn’t,” I tell him right away. “We’d love to have you there.”

“Maybe,” he says. “I brought my laptop and a bunch of books. I guess I could just hang out in the cafe while you guys do your thing.”

“That sounds perfect! And then you’ll be there to join us for lunch.”

Dean gives me a soft smile, nodding his head. “Alright, you’ve convinced me.”

Kassian steps out of the bathroom, steam billowing around him as he walks out. His skin is still pink from the hot water. He’s brushing his fingers through his wet hair. It’s nothing I haven’t seen before but I’m struck all over again with how happy I am that he’s mine.

“You’re so beautiful,” I murmur, watching as Kassian blushes. His movements halt for a moment before he goes back to brushing out his hair.

“Thank you,” he says shyly. I pass him as I get into the bathroom. I can hear the murmur of them talking in the other room and I find my reflection grinning back at me in the mirror. I make quick work of my shower, getting myself changed.

Dean takes a quick shower as well. After about a half hour, all three of us are ready to head out. As we leave, I glance over at the door beside our own. Kassian catches me looking and he covers his mouth.

“Oh my gods,” he whispers, “do you think Mars’ partner is still in there? Also where the hell was Finn? Don’t they usually share a room?”

“Would it be terrible if we waited out here for them to leave the room so we could see?”

“Yes,” Dean says right away. “We are not staking out your security personnel.”

“Oh come on,” I say right away but laugh as Dean puts a hand on my back, pushing me towards the elevator. Right when we reach it, the doors open, revealing Finn.

“Oh,” he says, his eyes filled with a knowing look as he takes the three of us in. When his eyes land on Dean, a grin spreads across his face. “Oh, why hello.”

We all take a step back, allowing Finn to walk out of the elevator. He’s holding two paper bags on his wrist, his hands each holding a drink carrier filled with coffees.

“Good morning,” I say right away. “You’re up early.”

“Yeah, I didn’t get a lot of sleep last night so I thought I would just get up and get everyone some coffee.”

Kassian is already making grabby hands at Finn, taking the iced coffee meant for him from the tray. Okay, so apparently Finn must have been out all night, waiting for Mars’ partner to leave or at least for the two of them to be done fucking before he came back to their room.

That’s surprisingly rude on Mars’ part, very unlike him.

“I have one for you too, Dean.”

Dean looks pleasantly surprised. “That’s really kind of you. Thank you.”

“No worries. I’m assuming you’ll be around more in the future so it’s good to get to know you. Hopefully you’re okay with what I ordered for you.”
