Belladonna’s Nightmare

Prologue.

Belladonna

People age and mature, but when did we lose our sense of fun? Halloween was a couple of weeks away, and none of my sisters seemed bothered. In the old days, when we were teens, Sapphire, Sparrow, and I used to curl up, watch horror movies, and scream ourselves silly. Every little noise in whichever home we were in back then made us jump out of our skins.

I remembered Sparrow making herself sick with fear when she insisted there were zombies outside. It turned out the smell was rotten meat wafting in from outside, but she was ten, and her imagination ran riot then.

We used to have fun, but we’d forgotten how. And frankly, that pissed me off.

I’d chosen not to be a member of the inner circle. I hadn’t wanted the responsibility. Now I wondered if I should join. The inner circle had neglected holidays and didn’t bother celebrating anything. St. Patrick’s Day? Just another party. Easter? Lie in bed and eat chocolate all day.

What happened to us?

Christ, we weren’t elderly. None of us was over forty, so why were we so dull? We were biker chicks who didn’t give a fuck what people thought of us. Yet now we were too cool to have fun?

I sighed; I was bored and wanted some action. Halloween used to be amusing, but now we were old before our time. Soon we’d be shooting kids for picking apples from the tree.

Okay, maybe I was exaggerating a bit; we had plenty of action, but it wasn’t fun.

I wrinkled my nose. I wanted a Halloween party.

Why not? Everyone could dress up, and we could get drunk, eat hot dogs and burgers, and binge out on candy. Was that so bad?

I eyed Sapphire and Sparrow. Once they’d enjoyed the holidays like me, what had changed? I couldn’t be sure, but I was determined to rattle some cages.

“You seem deep in concentration,” Blue said, peering at me.

I smiled at Nun’s old man. I adored how Blue loved Nun and how she’d bent so she could have him and Priest. Blue held a special place in my heart for that, Priest, not so. I didn’t know him that well yet.

“If I have to arrest you,” Wylde warned, “I won’t be responsible for Sapphire’s actions.”

“Yeah, yeah. How the hell did Sapphire end up with you?” I demanded.

Wylde’s eyes twinkled, and I groaned even as he opened his mouth. “I’ve got what it takes to keep your Prez happy.”

“Shut up,” I retorted, not wanting to know how big his cock was.

Wylde grinned wider as Blue chuckled.

“What are you planning? Because I recognise that look,” Blue teased.

Now it was my turn to grin widely. “A little of this, and a bit of that.” I slid off the bar stool.

“Why does that sound like trouble?”

“Because, cop, it is!” I taunted and walked away.

“You want to what?” I asked in church. After running through the usual, I mistakenly inquired whether there was any other business.

Belladonna’s hand shot up.

“The floor’s yours,” I replied.

“I’d like a party,” Belladonna responded.
