His grip on me loosens.

All the color disappears from his face.

Rhett is beside us instantly. “What? What happened?”

Malakai’s expression tells me he already understands enough to be terrified.

“No.”

I wrench myself out of Ezra’s grip and back away from all three of them.

“Stop fucking saying that!”

My voice cracks across the clearing.

They go silent.

“If you know what’s happening, tell me.”

Malakai reaches for me.

I slap his hand away before he can touch me.

“Don’t.”

He stops immediately.

I press both hands against my stomach, suddenly terrified I’m going to feel it again.

“Something moved.”

Mariah’s eyes drop to my hands. “What do you mean, something moved?”

“I mean something fucking moved inside me!”

Ali covers her mouth.

I shake my head before anyone can say it.

“No. Absolutely fucking not. I am not pregnant.”

Nobody answers.

The silence makes panic crawl higher into my throat.

“I am not pregnant.”

“I know,” Malakai says.

I snap my head toward him. “Do you?”
