Rylan looks at her. “What investments?”
Luna Selena waves her hand. “Pocket change, honey. Nothing for your to worry about.”
I chuckle.
Billions of dollars is pocket change?
Luna Selena doesn’t even blink.
It’s mad money pocket change.
I press my lips together before Darian notices me laughing. Rylan is still staring at his mate. “What investments, Luna Selena?”
“We have a pack to save.”
Rylan looks at her for another moment, then turns back to Darian. “What do you remember about the attack?”
Darian answers him while Luna Selena reaches for my hand beneath the desk. “You lost your pups?” she asks quietly.
I look at her. She knows now. I nod. Her fingers tighten around mine. “Arlene…”
“I know.”
She doesn’t ask me to explain it. She just holds my hand. Then she looks at Rylan. “We need to help Pine Ridge.”
He nods. “I’ll contact their Alpha and arrange the warriors.”
“Their Luna came to me. I’ll answer her.”
Their eyes meet, and I feel something in my chest loosen.
Pine Ridge is still alive. We still have time.

The contaminated water is identified, and Pine Ridge shuts down the source. Their leadership contacts the Council for treatment while Silver Moon sends wolves to guard their borders. The rogues never get the weakened pack they were waiting for.
I read the updates whenever they arrive. The first reports are frightening. Then the number of new cases begins to fall. The sick wolves receive treatment. Their strength returns. Their wolves begin responding again.
One afternoon, Luna Selena comes into my office with her tablet.
“Pine Ridge.”
I look up. She turns the screen toward me. The latest report says their warriors are recovering well enough to begin returning to their normal duties. I read it twice. Then I sit back. For a moment, I can hear the campfire again. The laughter. The way Candice talked about Pine Ridge as though an entire pack had been nothing more than an inconvenience. I look at Luna Selena. “They’re going to live.”
She smiles. “Yes.”
My wolf presses close beneath my skin. We changed it.
I place my hand over my belly.
“Yes… We did.”
Pine Ridge’s Alpha and Luna visit Silver Moon after their pack has recovered. Their Luna takes Luna Selena’s hands. “I asked you because I didn’t know who else would listen. You did.”
Luna Selena smiles. “I’m glad you reached out.”
“You saved my pack.”
