DARIAN'S POV
For a moment, I can only stare at the name.
Candice Vale.
I knew Candice. I knew Zeke. I knew what they did to my family in our first life, but I never knew Candice was Former Gamma Vale's daughter.
My wolf surges beneath my skin. Mate.
Arlene's bond remains strong beneath the silence, and I press my hand against my chest.
"She's alive."
Find her.
"We will."
Rylan watches me. “You know Candice.”
“Candice and Zeke were responsible for what happened to my family in my first life.”
His expression hardens. “The rogue camp?”
“Yes.”
I turn back to Vale's desk. “Find Zeke.”
Rylan moves to the computer while I go through the papers scattered across the desk, searching for anything connected to the name. I pull open another drawer and find a stack of unopened and saved mail mixed with old correspondence.
An envelope near the bottom stops me.
Zeke's name is written in the return address.
“Rylan.”
He comes around the desk while I turn the envelope over. It's addressed to Vale, but my attention stays on the return address.
Rylan looks from the envelope to the computer. “I have a phone number Vale contacted repeatedly.”
“Check the address.”
His fingers move across the keyboard. A few seconds later, he looks at me.
“Same one.”
My wolf pushes harder. Mate. Go.
I stare at the address again, and recognition crawls over me.
I know that road.
I know where it leads.
Memories slam into me before I can stop them. Three years in rogue territory. The hidden turn beneath the trees. The camp. The underground cells and tunnels where Arlene and I once fought to keep our family alive.
The place where everything was taken from us in our first life.
Rylan sees the recognition on my face. “Darian?”
