I grab the envelope.

They're at my old rogue camp.

I know exactly how to get there.

I look at Rylan.

“I know where they are.”

Arlene’s POV

Istay near the bars while Selena rests on the makeshift cot against the back wall. She tried pacing with me earlier, but I made her sit down. She's too far along in a four month Lycan pregnancy to waste what little energy she has walking around a rogue cell. More importantly, I want her behind me. If anyone comes through that door, they have to get past me before they can reach her.

The poison from the dart is finally starting to loosen its grip. My arms don't feel as heavy, and the fog in my head has cleared enough that I can think without fighting through it. Every few minutes, I catch another flicker of my wolf moving through the back of my mind.

Mate.

Relief rushes through me as I close my eyes. "I know. He's coming."

She fades again, but this time I smile. She's getting stronger.

“Can I ask you something?” Selena asks.

I glance over my shoulder. “Sure.”

“Where the hell did you learn how to fight like that?”

I laugh. “My mother.”

“Your mother?”

“She was a warrior. Women weren't allowed to fight much in my old pack, but my mother didn't care. She started training me when I was five.”

Selena's eyebrows shoot up. “Five?”

I nod. “She told me if I ever ended up in a situation where I needed to protect myself, she wanted me trained to win. She didn't want me leaving a threat behind that could come after me later.”

Selena stares at me for a moment before a smile spreads across her face. “I like your mother.”

“So did I.”

“That explains the sixteen dead rogues.”

I shrug. “Darian gets on me about it all the time. He keeps saying we need prisoners so we can extract information from them.”

“And what do you say?”

I raise my shoulders. “Meh.”

Selena stares at me for half a second before bursting out laughing. I smile as I turn back toward the corridor, but her laughter stops when footsteps approach.

Candice appears with two guards behind her, looking entirely too pleased with herself. I straighten but stay near the bars, keeping myself between her and Selena.

“I'm glad you're enjoying yourselves.”

“We were,” Selena says from behind me. “Then you came back.”
