“I did. Come in.”

Darian and Arlene take the two empty chairs. Damian squeezes beside his father while Darlene climbs onto Arlene’s lap and settles Teddy against her stomach.

I look at Darian. “You told me Friday that if I needed help building Silver Moon, you were here.”

“I meant it.”

“Good. I need a secretary.”

He stares at me.

Joshua covers his mouth.

Darian looks at him, then back at me. “A secretary?”

“A secretary.”

“You called me here to offer me a job doing paperwork?”

“Among other things.”

His mouth twitches. “All right.”

“That’s a yes?”

“You said you need help. I said I’d help.”

My Lycan rumbles approvingly.

I ignore him.

Selena turns toward Arlene. “And I’d like you to work with me.”

Arlene blinks. “Me?”

“I saw what you did yesterday. I need someone helping me organize information, reports and everything else that keeps landing on my desk. You’re observant, and I already know you can keep your head when things get chaotic.”

Arlene smiles. “I’d love to.”

Darian turns toward his mate. “But my mate is pregnant.”

Arlene looks at him. “I can do paperwork, Darian.”

“I know.”

“What’s the worst I’ll receive? A paper cut?”

Joshua coughs into his fist. Jasmin presses her lips together, and Selena makes absolutely no attempt to hide her smile.

Darian groans. “Arlene.”

“I’ll be fine.”

He stares at her for a moment before apparently deciding there’s another problem he has a better chance of winning. “What about the pups?”

“My mother can watch them,” Jasmin says. “She already watches Jace and Jocelyn when Joshua and I are both busy. They’ll be with her on the Gamma floor.”
