“That’s original.” I smirked, and Law shrugged.

“Okay. Let’s start. There’ll be a party for Law and Widowmaker on Saturday. Nanci has run down every other legacy. There are no more—we’re it, which brings me to Joe and Rory. They’ve been here twelve months, and we either patch them in or cut them loose. Vote for Joe.”

Razor collected the votes; it was unanimous, and the same with Rory. Both of them had busted their balls. “Names?”

“Virgin for Joe,” I said, and we laughed. Inglorious quickly explained what had happened.

“Porn star!” Vortex threw out. Those of us who’d been present for the porn film commotion began laughing hard.

“Magic Mike.” Hercules chuckled.

“Horse?” Razor suggested.

“Bobbitt,” Bow added.

“Twitch. Every time he thinks we’re doing something we shouldn’t, he twitches,” I finally said.

“Yeah, I like that. Rory?” Inglorious asked, looking around.

“Grim. It’s the complete opposite of his actual nature,” Vortex drawled.

“Done. Order their cuts and patches. We’ll give them a patching-in party next week. They can also look for new prospects. Now, finance reports.”

We turned to Nightmare, who’d taken over as treasurer. He was Darkness’s second cousin, and the last legacy Nanci had recruited. Mare, as he preferred to be known, ran through the finances. They were extremely healthy, although they’d slowed their intake for December, January, and February. The snow was a killer up here. But with us paying to keep the roads clear, we kept the town going.

“We’ve got a full club. I’m re-parcelling out the businesses. Those of you who were overloaded now won’t be.” Inglorious handed out a list. “Any issues, come and see me privately.”

I glanced down.

Inglorious. Town Hall.

Vortex. Dentist. Club stocked shops.

Hercules. Hardware store and equipment hire store.

Widowmaker. No.1 and No.2 mine. The trout farm.

Tracker. Stables outside of town and Merritt Stables.
