“Brother, you like her.”
“She’s a nice person, her kids ain’t bad either, but I’m not looking for anything,” I stated as I kept walking. Inglorious walked away as I made for my bike. I’d a problem to resolve.
The roads stopped me from riding, so I took a club SUV. Like most bikers, we hated being off our bikes, but we knew how to play it safe. I drove straight to Rapid City. I had a score to settle. Well aware I was in a club vehicle, I called Rage MC.
“What’s up?” Ace asked, answering the phone.
“I’m coming to RC on business, just wanted to give you a heads-up. Thought this was Drake’s number,” I replied.
“Personal or club?” Ace demanded.
“Personal.”
“Come to the clubhouse. You don’t go alone. I reckon you might need an alibi; your ride being here gives you one. Who are you after?”
I chewed my bottom lip. Damn Ace. “A dirty lawyer. He’s taken our cook’s money, knowing she and the kids are struggling. But the fucker is working with her husband to fuck her over.”
“Yup, beat-down in the making. I’ll inform Drake. We’ll alibi you,” Ace said and cut the call. Fuckin’ Rage, a law unto themselves. Mind you, most clubs were.
As I pulled into Rage MC, Ace was waiting for me. We grabbed elbows, shoulder-bumped, and I turned to Drake, who was approaching.
“Inglorious already gave me a heads-up. How you doing, Chill?”
“Inglorious didn’t know I was coming,” I replied.
“Reconsider that.” Drake smirked.
“That fuck,” I muttered.
“You’re going with Ace. We’ve got you covered,” Drake said and walked away. Fair enough.
The smug asshole sobbed as I stamped on his hand. Cartman yanked it away, sobbing.
“You’ve got the wrong man!” he cried.
“Meadow Silver ring a bell?” I demanded.
Cartman’s eyes widened. “Is this about the call? There’s nothing I can do!”
“Wrong answer.” My fist smashed into his jaw, and he stumbled backwards.
“No, honest, the judge said—”
I punched him again, and Cartman hit the floor. I stomped on his other hand and ground it in. Bones crunched, and I knew I’d mangled it. He began screaming, and Ace shoved a cloth in his mouth.
“You fucked up, you dirty cunt. You believed Meadow was alone because she followed the rulebook. Big mistake.”
“There’s nothing I could do—”
I pulled out my phone and played the video for him. Cartman turned so pale I thought he would pass out.
“That’s up to the police. Your career is finished. This is what’s going to happen. You’ll refund Meadow every single cent she spent, with interest. Then you’ll go to the cops and confess. Because trust me, there are a lot worse things than death. In the meantime, you’re going to understand exactly what I can do.”
“I…”
I hit him several times, breaking his nose and shattering his eye socket. Ace watched as I beat the man to a barely breathing pulp. I grabbed his shirt collar and hauled him up before he blacked out.
“If you don’t pay Meadow, if you don’t own your bullshit, this will happen on a fortnightly basis. Next time I’m going to start slicing shit off you. I’ll begin with a hand,” I threatened.
