“Why don’t we let Mom sleep a bit more while I feed you?” Chill suggested.
“Good idea,” Cassian agreed. “Mom’s likely to commit murder right now.”
“They grow up so soon,” Nanci quipped as I entered the clubhouse.
“Shut up,” I muttered.
Nanci laughed. “Chill went to sleep with a twinkle in his eye, and overnight that turned into two kids and a teenager! Like, where did time go?”
“I’m gonna slap you,” I complained, and Nanci roared with laughter.
“Chill’s taken them out for breakfast, to give you some time.”
“Great. They’ve gone for doughnuts, haven’t they?”
“Well, when they’re sugared up…” Nanci grinned.
“That’s when they visit their Aunt Nanci.” I smirked.
“Bitch,” Nanci muttered as Daisy-Duke cackled.
“Hey,” Amy said as she sat down. “Good night?” she added slyly.
“Wouldn’t know; I slept through everything,” I replied.
Amy’s eyes went wide as she took in my inference. Then she smirked. “You had me going then.”
“Serves you right for being nosy.”
“Get used to it. Among us old ladies, there ain’t no such thing as privacy,” Carole quipped, sitting down. She studied my face. “Pay up, bitches!” she said, holding out her hand.
“Fuck,” Nanci grumbled and slapped a twenty into her palm. Amy and Daisy-Duke followed suit.
I looked at them quizzically. “What did I miss?”
“I bet you didn’t get laid last night. I saw how you were moving. These three were more hopeful.”
“Is nothing sacred?” Twitch exclaimed.
“How’s the porn movie coming along?” Nanci asked, and he glared, then walked away.
“That kid has a very unnatural knack of walking into the end of unfortunate conversations,” Daisy-Duke chortled.
“I feel sorry for him,” I said.
“Don’t, it’s hysterical,” Amy replied, and I laughed. These women would have your back come hell or high water. At the same time, they’d hang you out to dry if it amused them. Typical of this club! Amused, I watched them bicker as I drank my coffee.
Chill
“Not wearing that,” I snapped.
Locke raised his eyebrows. “My guards are always suited and booted gentlemen.”
“Wanna tell Onyx? He ain’t sporting a monkey suit for no one.” Tiny deftly named the Rider’s of Vengeance’s president.
“He’s an associate; you two aren’t,” Locke retorted.
“Well, that will put the cat amongst the pigeons,” I replied.
