“Don't fucking talk to me.”
Roman grabbed my shoulder when I passed. “Stop.”
“Get off.”
“You're making everyone nervous.”
“GOOD.” But just then another sound came through the door. Bryn in pain. I froze as my body reacted instantly, every muscle, every instinct. I turned toward the door but Roman blocked me.
“No.”
“Move.”
“No.”
“Roman.”
“No.”
I shoved him but he didn't move, of course he fucking didn't.
“She's hurting.”
“Yes.”
“I need to go in.”
“You can't fight childbirth.”
“Watch me.”
Lucien covered his face. Volken muttered something that sounded like a prayer. Draugr looked at me. “You know she is stronger than you think.”
“I know exactly how strong she is.”
“Then trust her.”
“I trust her.”
“Doesn't look like it.”
“I don't trust her body.” Silence, that sounded insane, it was insane but I didn't care. I leaned against the wall, then slid down it. The others stared as I put my head in my hands. “I shouldn't have done this.”
Roman crouched in front of me. “Done what?”
“Got her pregnant.”
He blinked. “You're serious.”
“She could die.”
“So could you every time you leave this house.”
“Different.”
“No.”
“Yes.”
