Steph made a sound like she was ascending to heaven. “OH MY GOD.”

Jade’s voice screamed in the background. “PUT HER ON SPEAKER!”

Steph hissed, “NO, YOU’LL SCARE HER!”

Jade: “SHE’S BEEN SCARED INTO ORGASM, LET ME TALK TO HER…”

“Jade!” I snapped, mortified.

Viking leaned against my doorframe, arms crossed, watching me with blatant amusement. He could hear every word, his expression said he was enjoying my suffering.

Steph’s voice went wicked. “So… he slept with you.”

“STEPH!”

Jade screeched again. “HOW IS HE IN BED?! IS HE CRAZY?! TELL ME EVERYTHING!”

My face went nuclear, I lowered my voice. “I’m not answering that.”

Viking’s eyes glittered as he mouthed: Yes you are. I gave him a murderous look.

Steph giggled like an idiot. “She’s blushing.”

“I am not blushing.”

Jade shouted, “IS DRAUGR THERE?! PUT HIM ON!”

At that exact moment, Draugr walked past the hallway.

I pointed at him automatically. “They want to talk to you.”

Draugr stopped. His pale eyes flicked to me like I’d offered him a plate of poison. Then he grunted once and kept walking.

Jade screamed, “HE GRUNTED! HE GRUNTED AT HER! I’M GOING TO DIE!”

Steph whispered dramatically, “Bryn, you’re living our fantasy.”

I pressed my fingers to my forehead. “I’m hanging up.”

Before I did, Steph squealed, “WAIT! ARE YOU COMING BACK TODAY?”

I hesitated and then I saw Viking’s amusement faded. His gaze sharpened.

I swallowed. “I… don’t know.”

Steph inhaled. “Bryn. Tell me you’re safe.”

I glanced at Viking, the monster, the protector. The insane possessive vampire who’d stolen my life and yet… “I’m safe,” I admitted quietly.

Steph’s voice softened. “Okay. Call us later. We love you.”

“I love you too,” I murmured as I hung up.

Viking stepped forward the second the call ended. “We are going to the airport now,” he states.

I stared at him. “The what.”
