“Why the hell did you leave without saying goodbye?” he asked huskily before swirling his tongue around her clit.

She couldn’t find the words, any words. She was left with only feeling, shards of pleasure that rippled through her pussy like a wave. Her orgasm was so swift, so cataclysmic; she had to fight for air. Tears pricked at the back of her eyelids, but her pride kept them from running freely down her face.

Logan rose, pressed his forehead to hers. “Tell me. Tell me why.”

She scrambled off the table and yanked up her clothes and avoided his answer with a question of her

own. “What are you doing here?”

“You don’t know?” he asked her, an incredulous expression on his face.

Walking away on shaky legs, she stepped into her living area and put her oversized sofa between them. If he touched her again, it would be over for her. “Look. This weekend was great, but that’s all it was.” The stricken look on his face twisted her heart. “I…I can’t do this.”

Logan gazed at her. “Violet… Did it mean nothing? Everything we said? Everything we shared?”

It meant everything.

She didn’t think she was in love with him, but the ache quivering inside her told her she felt something for him and it scared her down to her toes. How could she feel so deeply for him in one day? What she felt for the ass-wipe who’d broken up with her via email didn’t even compare to what she felt for Logan, and she didn’t understand it. She turned around, not wanting him to see the tears that blurred her vision. “I don’t know what you want me to say,” she whispered.

“I need you,” Logan said in a husky, ravaged voice. “I…I don’t understand the feelings raging around inside me. I’ve never ever felt this way before.”

Violet dragged in an unsteady breath and laughed softly. “I know exactly how you feel.”

He came up to stand behind her. “When I woke up and you were gone without even saying goodbye, I couldn’t breath.”

That finally broke her. She swung around and threw her arms around him. He pulled her close and lifted her slightly in the air.

“I’m not going to make you any promises, but I want to see what this is. I want to know if we have a chance. Can we do that?” He set her down and leaned back to look at her.

A wave of relief swept through her, and she nodded her head. “Yes.”

“I can tell you this.” He cupped her face and kissed each cheek, her forehead, nose, and then her lips. “I won’t ever lie to you, and if we end up not working…” His mouth quirked up in a small grin. “…I promise not to break it off by e-mail.”

That coaxed a little smile over her lips.

“Deal?”

She lifted her head. “Deal.”

Logan cupped her face between his hands and kissed her as deeply and intensely as he’d kissed her that night on the beach. Linking her hands with his, she walked backwards toward her hallway. “You know,” she said. “We just had our first fight.”

A sly, sexy look slanted over his features. “Oh really.”

“You know what that means, right?”

“Make-up sex?”

Once they made it into her room, Violet stepped away with a low, naughty laugh. “Make-up sex,” she agreed, and pulled her shirt up and over her head.

The End
