Commerce’s phone rang. He glanced at it. Saw that it was Louisa, and wasn’t going to take it but then he thought better of it because he knew she had connections.

“Hello.”

“Is Ivan with you?”

“Yes, he is.” Commerce said and looked at Ivan.

“Put me on speaker.”

“It’s Louisa.” He pressed the button and they all listened.

“Okay, you need to find Cassandra Holmes. She helped Volkov.”

“What?” Ivan asked.

“She chartered a boat, Ivan, along with two men and they took Annabella and Volkov to a marina in North Carolina. They headed inland. Cassandra could know more.”

“Dante.” Ivan yelled to him.

“I got it.” Dante walked out of the room.

“There’s more, and I texted the information about the marina and also a location inland. Ivan…people I know say that there’s this route connected to some place, the one I gave you is one of multiple these assholes traffic women through.”

“What?” Commerce asked, shocked about the information.

“Yes, and they change the locations in case anyone picks up on the activity. A building one day a house the next, ultimately as they move them around, those that survive are then transported by shipping container overseas. That could be Volkov’s ultimate plan for Annabella.”

“We’ll get men there, as soon as possible.” Mirnon said.

“Louisa, thank you.” Ivan said to her.

“Just bring back your woman Ivan. Save her, please.”

“We won’t be able to get there in time and do surveillance and ensure Annabella is there.” Mirnon said.

“We can get other people to help.” Cole chimed in.

“What do you mean other people?” Dante asked.

“Soldiers, our friends, men we trusted our lives with. Some live down south. They would probably be up for some recon.” Cole added.

“Holy shit, that’s a great idea.” Falcon said to him.

“We have to get Ivan’s permission on this. He doesn’t use outside people for something so close to him.” Roman said to them.

“Then we ask him.” Cole said.

Annabella felt weak and sick. She could hear women crying and then screaming for a while. Now it passed and once again it was silent. The guards that came in here changed her restraints and now she wore handcuffs on each wrist and a chain hung to the walls behind her. She couldn’t reach out too far in front of her. Her body was weak, and she was thin and hungry. They barely gave her any food or water. She coughed and it hurt in her chest, sounded worse than bronchitis, like she caught some disease. She didn’t know how long she had been here, and wondered why Volkov hadn’t returned yet.

She lay flat on the ground, her cheek against the dirty concrete flooring. She was battered and bruised but she wasn’t giving up hope that Ivan was looking for her and would find her. In case he couldn’t, she needed to save her energy, the fight in her to survive this. She was beyond scared, and had no idea how much time had passed, but knew death could happen. She wished she got to tell Ivan that she loved him one last time. She wished she heard those words from his lips. He would be angry that this happened, and he may even regret their relationship because this was his fear. That she would become a target. When she heard the metal door open and then footsteps, she prepared for the strikes to her body, the touching, and the grabbing to scare her and break her down. Yet she didn’t move, didn’t tighten up, and had become immune to it all. Her body wanted to give up, yet her heart, her soul kept hope to live.

“Perfect.” Volkov said and she heard the flash of his camera on his phone.

Her eyes were closed, her face swollen, lip split and battered. Then he used his foot to roll her to her back. He pressed some keys. Was probably sending them directly to Ivan. Anger and disgust filled her belly.
