I’m still wary of them though. They can turn on me at any time, so I watch my back. But as each day passes it’s another one I learn more about them. As I walk into Crow’s office, I’m nervous. My stomach is in knots when I find him behind his desk. He’s already dressed for a job they’re heading out to tonight, which means I have to move fast if I want to go with them.

“Any news?” I settle in the chair opposite his desk.

Crow’s silver eyes take me in from head to toe. I’m wearing a pair of black tights, along with my combat boots and a hoodie. I’m dressed for comfort. But if he gives me the go ahead, I have a dress in mind which I can easily change into.

When Falcon said they’re buying me clothes, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but he allowed me onto his computer, while supervised, but I could choose what I wanted to wear. Crow observed as I excitedly bought what I wanted. Now I have a closet of clothes.

“Not yet, we know he’s hiding out in L.A., but the moment he makes a move, we’ll hear about it,” Crow assures me. “Was there something else on your mind, little mouse?” The dark arch of his brow reminds me he’s extremely perceptive. I can’t lie to him, and I can’t hide anything because Crow notices everything.

“I want to go on a job.” It’s now or never. There’s no point in making up reasons as to why I’m in his office.

“No.”

“Why not? I can do what you do, and I could probably do it better.”

Crow laughs out loud at me. “Oh really? You can kill a man without blinking and walk away from it without guilt?” I knew they killed people, but I didn’t think they did it every night. I wanted to learn more about them. About their work.

“Let me go with you, I can be your arm candy.”

This time, he leans back in his chair, elbows resting on the arms of the seat. “What makes you think I need you as arm candy?” His challenge is clear. Those silver eyes shimmer as he regards me with the corner of his mouth tipping upward in a smirk. He’s cocky. Arrogant. But I can’t deny it turns me on.

“Because if you didn’t need me, I wouldn’t be here anymore,” I throw back, hoping I’m not overstepping. He could so easily pull out his knife and launch it at my head. Then I’ll be fucked.

He leans forward, steepling his fingers under his chin. The black curl I’ve come to enjoy, falls into his left eye. “And what pray tell, makes you think I don’t already have a girl on standby?”

My mouth pops open, but I shut it quickly. I didn’t think he would be with anyone else. That was my mistake. I should never have assumed I was the only woman in his life. The man is. Greek god, how can he not have a bevy of beauties lining up to escort him to any event he attends.

“I want to know what you do,” I respond without answering his question. I don’t want him to think I’m jealous. I don’t want to admit it to myself either. I shouldn’t be. We’re nothing more than captor and captive, who enjoy fucking each other. There’s nothing more to it, no feelings.

But even as I think it, I know it’s a lie because deep down, I’m starting to like them, all of them. Hawk is still cold toward me. Crow is different, he’s ice, but there is more to him than meets the eye. I intend on finding out what it is.

“Fine,” he finally appeases, and I almost jump out of my seat to hug him. I shouldn’t be this excited to watch him kill someone, but the thought of getting out of this house has me anxious. “Let’s get one thing straight,” Crow says, holding up a finger. “The men you’ll be around tonight, they’re nothing like us. They’re evil. They won’t think twice of gutting you like a fish.”

I nod, and hope I don’t sound afraid when I say, “I get that.”

“No,” he bites out as he pins me with a glare. “You don’t. You think you do because of your dad, but this is the Bratva we’re meeting with. They don’t know your name, and they won’t know it. You’ll walk in there as my fucking slave. If you so much as utter a word to me without my requesting you to speak, I’ll happily give you to them.”

“Okay,” I answer. “I’ll obey, and I’ll do anything you ask of me. Let me go with you. Please?” He doesn’t realize I want to see something other than this place. As beautiful as the house is, it’s driving me crazy staying indoors all this time.
