Epilogue

The loft apartment had dozens of our closest friends and family that filled the room all dressed up.

“Sophie, did you ever find a new CEO for Forever Fitness?” Lucy was one of my closest friends and the next-door neighbor to Cole and I in North Carolina.

“Yes, as a matter of fact we did. She started last month, and it’s been the best experience ever.” She smiled softly seeming truly happy for me.

“You should take a family photo, this loft is the perfect space with the lake in the background” she pointed as I looked over to Cole.

Walking up to my handsome boyfriend I reached down to pick up Timber from his arms. She was two months old and healthy and happy as ever. During birth I lost a lot of blood and had several complications so it felt good to have everyone over to meet her. Timber was the cutest baby and Cole was an amazing dad. Every time I thought of her name Tibby’s sobbing hug filled my memory. “You just gave me the greatest gift of all,” Tibby sobbed as she had once joked about naming my baby after her when we found out about my pregnancy. Timber was such an odd name but if she was going to be anything like Tibby, she would be set for life.

“Alex, can you please take a picture of us?” I asked before walking over to the large window overlooking our dock. Alex was the new CEO of my pharmaceutical company. She was young but progressive when it came to utilizing her medical degree and family knowledge of business. She spent most of her life traveling the world looking for cures. She backed up as Cole, Timber and I started to pose.

She fell forward. “Excuse me” she blurted at Asa who accidently bumped into her.

Asa was visiting town to meet his niece, “Sorry,” he apologized grabbing her hand and helping her up. “I didn’t see you there.”

She fixed her dress, “when was the last time you had your eyes checked?”

One could see in his face he was taken aback by her snarky comment. “Maybe you should learn to walk in heels.”

Asa was always polite but a little rough around the edges. Like his brothers he was a ladies’ man but had a wild past. She moved towards him not breaking his stare while slipped off her heels, “better?”

He grinned and gestured for her to take the center of the room for the photo. Before she looked away he winked and started rolling up his shirt sleeve exposing his tattoos.

She glared at him, and Cole and I started laughing knowing that exact look. She looked towards us and held up her phone “Okay, on the count of three. One, two…” I stood smiling waiting for her to say three but instead Cole walked in front and bent down on one knee. The room fell silent and everyone just watched us.

“Sophie Dash, you’re the greatest gift in my life. I will cherish and love you forever. Will you be my wife?”

Tears filling my eyes I looked down at the perfect picture with Timber in my arms and Cole proposing to me. “Of course, I will marry you.”

The entire room filled with cheers as Cole placed a small white band on my finger.

“You might need to buy your own ring, that’s all Cole can afford.” Asa joked in the background.

I let out a squeal of excitement and kissed him, “I don’t need a fancy ring, I just need a heart that will love me and put up with my fancy taste.” He smiled and we both looked at our beautiful daughter in pure bliss.

“Wait, I have one more thing.” Passing Timber to Cole I opened the doors to our back yard and a brand new wake board boat pulled up to my dock. “I owe you a boat.” I said to Cole as he pulled his hand to his face in disbelief. Zack waved from the boat as he finished parking it in the not so empty dock.

“You didn’t have to do this.” He said still not able to accept what was happening.

“Well with Miles in prison, I wasn’t going to wait for him to pay you back the amount the insurance failed to cover.” He pulled me in and kissed me softly.

The End
