Adam agreed. “Why pass up a sure thing?”
“I think he should stay with Derek,” David said. “I think Derek would be good for him.”
Adan came back over with his friends and asked them to dance, making a decision very hard for Chance.

“You’re very good at that,” one of the mommies in class said to Derek.
Some of the women had been hitting on him all evening since he was the only guy there. This one introduced herself as Adell and she was the single parent of an eight-month-old son.
“I need to get this down pat,” Derek explained. “Jaden is depending on me.”
“Oh, is he your son?” Adell asked.
Derek shook his head. “My nephew. I’m raising him.”
Some of the other women oohed and clapped.
“You are just so kind,” Adell said.
Derek gulped. Adell was around his age and obviously interested in him. He was so glad when the class ended and his chauffeur Mitch came for him.
“Let me guess, some of the mommies were hitting on you?” Mitch said.
“Yes,” Derek said. “Does it show?”
Mitch chuckled. “You have that terrified look on your face.”
“One of them has an eight-month-old son who could be a playmate for Jaden.”
“But you’re not into women.”
“Maybe I can become interested in them for him,” Derek said.
“Don’t do it,” Mitch said. “You’ll be miserable.”
He and Mitch had been friends since high school. His father had hired him when he learned that Mitch loved cars. The two of them discussed things Derek couldn’t talk about with Matthew.
“What about that photographer guy I’ve been hearing about?”
“He’s still around,” Derek said.
“I heard he’s cute.”
“I don’t need cute. I need responsible and helpful.”
“He works with kids so he should have enough energy to run behind a toddler.”
Derek laughed, something he hadn’t done in a long time. “Do you think he’s a good catch?”
“Edna and Miss Harriet seem to think so,” Mitch said. “Edna also says you smiled a lot the night he came over.”
Edna was wise beyond her years and Derek valued the cook’s opinion. “He is kind of cute in a Brad Pitt/Orlando Bloom sort of way.”
“You do know the two of them don’t look alike,” Mitch said.
Derek chuckled. “It’s my fantasy. And he has a sexy voice.”
