“We have to go,” she sighed and climbed off him with a rueful glance at his very hard, very painful erection pushing against his boxer shorts. “I’m sorry about—you know.”

“Hey.” A wry smile curved his lips and he grabbed her as she pulled away. “Hold that thought. We’ll come back to this.”

Humor danced in her eyes and she tickled his cheek. “You’re cute when you’re demanding.”

“Cute, huh? When I’m demanding.” Oh, he saw what was happening here. She didn’t think he could be alpha enough for her. With a mischievous urge, he placed her hand over his dick and shot her a challenging look before lowering his voice with intent. “Like this?”

She rubbed him and he groaned, instantly regretting his tease. Then she pulled away and switched off the alarm on her cell phone.

He rolled to his side and enjoyed watching her pert, panty covered ass wiggle as she walked to her closet. One side of the cotton was caught in her buttocks. He wanted to pull it out with his teeth. He sighed and flopped onto his back to stare at the ceiling like a swooning teenager wondering how he got to be so lucky.

Mate…

He didn’t give a shit if they were about to hunt down the bastard who hurt her. He didn’t care if they might die, and the world could be ending. He’d slept next to Daisy. He’d hugged her. He’d kissed her like a lovesick amante and she’d just told him he would get to do it again. For every damned night of his life. He kept grinning at the ceiling until he felt grainy bits of dirt on the sheets and craned his neck with a frown.

He sat up.

“Daisy,” he blurted. “You made everything float.”

“What?” She slotted her feet into jeans and shimmied them up her hips.

He swung his legs over the bed and found his pants on the floor through the mess.

“You made everything float,” he repeated. “Did you not see? Look.”

She surveyed the room, taking in the pillows, plants, books, and other items crashed about. The room had been semi-tidy when they’d gone to sleep. She buttoned her jeans and then put a fallen plant back on the coffee table.

“I did this?” She frowned. “I guess I wasn’t paying attention.”

“You’re telekinetic.” He shoved his shirt over his head and tugged it down, wincing at the uncomfortable hard-on still straining his pants. Later, he promised it. The next time he had Daisy alone, he was finishing what they started. He checked the time on his watch. “We have about a few hours before we need to be there. Why did you set the alarm so early?”

She cocked her head, confused. “We have to scope out the place first.”

Of course. “Do we have time to eat?”

“We can find something on the way.”

While he put his shoes on, she went to her closet and stared. He came up behind her and slipped his hands around her stomach and rested his chin on her shoulder. She stared at her Falcon white leather suit.

“I don’t want to put it on.” She shuddered.

He hugged her tighter. “So don’t.”

“But we have to infiltrate the Faithful.”

He reached past her and picked up the coiled white braided bullwhip and the Falcon half-face bird mask. “Just these will do.”

She nodded with relief and then shamelessly slipped off her camisole right in front of him. She found a sports bra, put it on, and then added a shirt and leather jacket. He’d stood dumbfounded the entire time. Before she made it to the door, he closed the gap between them and pushed her against the wall.

“When we get back…” His voice was a low purr as he cupped her nape. “We’re finishing what we started.”

“Axel,” she said, but he swallowed her protest with a searing hot kiss she had no choice but to take. When he broke away, her hand landed on his chest, and she frowned.

“Is this real?” she whispered. “Us?”

He covered her hand and squeezed. “What do you think?”

“I think…” She gave a self-disparaging shake of her head. “I don’t know what to think.”
