“I will sell all of my properties and businesses. We can buy a bigger home here, close to your parents if you wish.” He started undoing my buttons, and through the desire-filled fog, I remembered that what he was about to do wasn’t possible.
I covered his hands with mine. “No.”
Pain flashed through his golden eyes, and another tear spilled free. “Please don’t leave me.”
Cupping his jaw, I brushed a soft kiss over his lips. “I mean, no, we can’t make love right now. Zak… I… The baby. I have to wait until the doctor clears me before we can have sex again.”
His face contorted. “Forgive me. I wasn’t thinking. Are you okay?” His hands caressed my belly. “Your mother said you were, but after everything, are you sure you don’t need to return to the hospital?”
“I’m fine,” I rushed to assure him. “So is our baby. But there was some bleeding, and to be safe, we need to wait until the doctor gives the all clear.”
He sucked in a shuddery breath. “If anything had happened to either of you…”
I hugged his head to my chest, stroking my fingers through his hair soothingly. “But nothing did. Now, you just have to be patient for a little while, and then we can…” I trailed off, not sure what it was that we would do once I was cleared for sexual activities.
Zak lifted his head, and my heart clenched at the sight of more of his tears. “Just tell me what you want, Sofia. Tell me, and I promise you, I will make it happen.”
“You’re saying all the right things,” I choked out. “And I believe you, Zak. I do. But…I’m scared. I love you so much, but I need some time to get all of this straight in my head. And my heart.”
His Adam’s apple bobbed when he swallowed. “I’ll prove myself to you,dragotsennyy. Take all the time you need. I can give you that and so much more as long as you don’t leave me.”
“Okay,” I agreed as I wiped away one of his tears. “Show me, Zakhar.”
