Come on, now, don’t neuter me. My reaction was totally normal for a red-blooded male or even a female one at that. It meant nothing.

“This is Ms.Tracey Davis, more commonly known as Tee,” Sass introduced.

“Hello Tracey Davis. Nice to meet you,” I responded.

“Honey, don’t even think it. To me, you’re used goods.”

“Am I, now?” I smiled because that was the strangest response to anice to meet youif I’ve ever heard one.

“Yes. Old boyfriends are off-limits.”

Has my girl been telling people about us? Hummmm, let me check.

“With such a tart tongue, you must get along famously with the jellyfish.” I chuckled when a pair of big brown eyes stared daggers at me through the rearview mirror.

Don’t get me wrong, I love my girl to pieces, but between her secret life and how that brain of hers work, she was hard to take in sometimes. It took a special brand of crazy to truly appreciate her.

“Jellyfish, oh I love this. Tell us more, Moose,” Sass chipped in.

“No, he won’t. Not unless he wants everyone to know what happened in that locker room on Thanksgiving.”

I stopped chuckling immediately at the threat.

You would not dare.I arched an eyebrow at her.

Yes, I would. In a nanosecond. She lifted her chin.

Fine.

And no, I’m not telling you. That secret is going to my grave with me.

“So, I’m an old boyfriend?” I asked with a smile and immediately wish I hadn’t when she looked away to hide her turmoil.

Straight up? Sarah Murdoch has a million flaws. She was grumpy in the morning, sarcastic in the afternoon, and went to bed pissed half of the time.

She could literally cut you in half for doing something stupid like take her coffee away because she drank the stuff by the gallons, and it wasn’t good for her.

And never touch her computers. EVER. I cannot stress that last one enough.

But she was also a hero. The work she’s been doing will bring down one of the worst scumbags this world has ever known, and that made up for all the other shit.

My girl was fucking perfect, and she loved me completely. Was she pissed at me right now? Yeah, definitely. I was pretty sure she was going to fry my balls the minute she got near them, but that won’t keep me from her.

“Mind telling me why you girls are in the middle of the road to nowhere land?”

Tee groaned, “Yeah, Sass. Tell this man why that is.”

“It’s your fault we got into a van with a bunch of strangers.”

They did what, now? Surely, I misheard.

Tee crossed her arms across her chest.

“Fine. We hitched a ride to Seville with a bunch of musicians we met in a bar and got stranded. As it turns out, hitching a ride while drunk isn’t the best idea. I don’t know why the hell I let her talk me into these things,” Sass muttered.

I looked at my girl with a frown, and she shrugged.

“What happened?”
