“On the Internet, fighting those gigantic dinosaurs,” Tee replied.

What the hell? Tee didn’t know a microprocessor from a modem. How the hell was she able to access the dark web?

“Hummm.”

“Did you have money problems? Is that it? Because I’d have gladly given you the cash. Why the hell would you put your life in danger like that?” Tee rambled on like a locomotive.

“Hum, Tee?”

“Girl, I wasn’t finished talking, so you better have a damn good reason for interrupting me.”

“Well, I kind of do. What are you talking about?”

“I’m talking about seeing all five feet of you going up against men twice your size. Are you crazy? If you had a death wish, you could have come to me, and I’d have gladly clubbed you on the head.

That is what normal people do when they’re bored. They don’t fight Conan the Barbarian! And where did you learn to fight like that??? Huh? Answer me.”

I made sure she was done this time before asking. “The fights were on the black web. You can barely power on your computer. How were you able to watch them?”

“Yeah, Tee. How?” Sass asked with a smirk.

“I was staying at someone’s home and crept up on him while he wasn’t looking,” she flushed red as she said this.

Shit. Gabe was up to his old tricks again. Stupid ass.

“I didn’t mean to. I thought he was watching porn, not you being beaten by a bunch of savages.”

“Technically, I was beating them, not the other way around.”

“Don’t try changing the subject, bitch. Why would you do a dumbass move like that?”

I looked at them in silence and exhaled. “I didn’t have a choice.”

They gave me a suspicious look that let me know they didn’t believe me.

“What’s going on, Mousy?”

“I can’t tell you. I wish I could, but you need to trust me on this. All I can say is, it’s part of my job.”

“Your job is to beat up a bunch of apes?” Tee asked incredulously.

“No, my job is something that I can’t discuss.”

“Are you working for the Government Mousy? Is that it?” This from Sass.

“Not quite. But I signed a nondisclosure agreement that I can’t violate. I’m sorry.”

“That’s not good enough, Sarah.”

“It will have to be. I can’t say any more than that. Plus, we have company rolling in,” I told them as Eric opened the door to my room.

Sass narrowed her eyes at me. “We’re not done with this.”

Yes, we were.

My husband didn’t hesitate when he saw the girls and headed straight for me, all the while looking beat up to shit. I didn’t think it was possible, but he looked worse than I did, and I was lying on a bed.

This said, I’ve never seen a better sight in my life.
