Elizabeth was beginning to panic. The benefit was four days away, and she’d yet to shop for a dress. She could look today after work, and probably tomorrow as well, but on Thursday she had a softball game.

She grabbed her phone to text Charlotte and noticed she’d missed a call from Georgiana. She quickly listened to her message and decided she would call her when she left work, then texted Charlotte.

Hey

She set her phone on her desk and about twenty minutes later, it pinged with a text alert.

Hey, what’s up?

I have a shopping emergency! I need a swanky dress. Any thoughts or free time?

I have to work tonight but can shop with you tomorrow.

Charlotte suggested a few stores for Elizabeth to check out, and Elizabeth sighed as she texted back.

Thanks, I’ll go after work. I’ll let you know if I find something. How was Madness? Are you upright?

LOL, yes. It was okay, kind of weird. Long story. I’ll tell you about it next time I see you

Okay, talk to you soon. Have a good shift

Elizabeth left work promptly at four and called Will, as she hadn’t heard from him all day.

“Hiya, beautiful,” he answered.

“Hi. What have you been up to all day?”

“Mostly helping Georgie get settled. The big move is today.”

“Itisa big move for her.”

“I know. She’s excited. I've been lugging all her stuff to the guesthouse, while she stares at the walls and tries to figure out where to hang pictures. Doesn’t seem very fair.”

“A big, strong man like you can lug a few boxes for his sister. Is she there with you?”

“No, I’m at my house, she’s at hers.” He chuckled. “Guess I have to get used to saying that.”

“What are you doing later?”

“Seeing you, I hope. Did you just leave work?”

“Yes, and I’m going straight into town to go dress shopping.”

“You’ll find something. Any dress will do.”

She rolled her eyes. “Spoken like a man.”

“I guess I should have mentioned the benefit to you a little earlier.”

“That would have been helpful, but it’s fine. I’ll find something.”

“I’ll be heading into Boston Thursday, so I’ll miss your game. We have to figure out how you’re getting to Boston on Friday.”

“We’ll talk about that tonight. Did you talk to Georgie yet about taking the last two tickets?”

“Yes, and I suggested she bring Julie, but she hasn’t made a decision yet.”
