The music began again, and it was a little harder to see now, but the colored dust cleared up just enough for me to be able to see my partner in front of me. I let the bond continue to lead me as I clapped to the beat of the music and spun around the other dancers. I laughed and truly felt happy. I just couldn’t believe that a lifetime of this awaited me. A life of festivals and fun. A life loving Bennett. A life that I could finally call my own.
The music got low again and this time I knew what it meant. I crouched to the ground and waited in anticipation for the beat to rise.

“I’m over here!” I said, hoping my voice would guide him in the right direction.
I felt hands grasp my shoulders and I flinched at the touch. The hands spun me around, but it wasn’t Bennett who looked at me. It was a Vespen soldier.
Fear was in his eyes and sweat drenched his forehead.
“What’s wrong?” My heart pounded in my chest as worry found a permanent home in my heart.
