Startlingawake,Ifind myself in a bed so soft that even the princess wouldn’t be able to feel the pea. I shudder in horror as I look down at myself. I’m no longer wearing the silver dress I put on during the flight. Instead, I’m wearing a rose pink Babydoll dress and… No bra or panties.

Unable to believe my eyes, I move my hands to my chest, and my confusion is replaced by pain as it lances through me upon touching my breasts. As a whimper breaks from my mouth, I pull and claw at the dress that suddenly feels like sandpaper against my flesh. However, the more I move, the more piercing the pain becomes. Closing my eyes, I try to get my breathing under control while I power through it, not stopping until the dress is completely gone.

When my fingers dip between the valley of my breasts, the pain intensifies as the tips of my fingers touch something sticky. Without thinking, I slide one digit through the stickiness, my stomach clenching and forcing my breath from my lungs with an “oof.”

Forcing my eyes open, I look down at my body again. There, between my breasts, an L is burned into my bleeding and red skin. I dig my fingers into the mattress as a blood-curdling scream is ripped from my throat, and with the scream, everything comes rushing back to me.

“Kas? Coen? Alec?” I scream their names as if my life depends on it, and frankly, it might.

A dark chuckle reaches my ears. “They’re not here, darling Baby. You are all mine now.”

No!

No!

I shake my head, refusing to believe his words.

“Where are they? What have you done with them?” I heard them on the plane. They’re here, they have to be.

Before I can even think to react, Luis closes the distance between us and wraps his hand around my neck. “You. Are. All. Mine.” His accent makes the words sound harsher than they otherwise would, and the implications make me shiver.

“Please tell me they’re still alive,” I beg. “Please, Luis. That’s all I need to know.”

Applying pressure to my neck, Luis looks me dead in the eye. “They live, at least for now.” I try to sigh in relief, but it’s nearly impossible with the way he’s squeezing my airway. “It’s up to you if they remain so or if I have to end them.”

Knowing I have no other choice, I swallow back all the things I want to yell at him. Instead, I lower my gaze and nod as best I can. “I’m yours,” I wheeze, and he immediately releases the constricting grip he had on me.

“Good! I would hate to have to be unpleasant toward you. I will if I have to, but I would prefer that we come to an agreement as civilized people.” My gaze jumps back up to his, and I have to bite the inside of my cheek not to retort. There’s nothing civilized about the way he’s treating me. Nothing pleasant about the way he’s forced his brand onto my skin.

Deciding to play along, I lick my dry lips slowly. “May I have some water?” I croak, my mouth parched. “Please.”

Luis nods sharply before reaching for the bedside table’s water glass. I stifle the urge to roll my eyes. I hadn’t seen the glass, and that’s probably a good thing. If I had spotted it, I might have done something stupid like reach for it without asking permission.

I don’t know Luis well, or at all. From the years he has been one of my regulars, I know that he’s particular in his taste and orders—expecting them to be fulfilled and carried out whenever he wishes. I don’t think I would have gained any points for not asking permission before moving.

“Thank you,” I say as softly as possible once the glass is empty.

“You are welcome.” Luis sits down on the bed. He licks his lips as his green and possessive eyes linger on my breasts. I shudder under his gaze, now wishing I hadn’t been so hasty in removing what little coverage he had bestowed upon me.

Before I can stop myself, I move back against the headboard. Shuffling around, I try to cover my blunder by making it look like I’m trying to get comfortable. “Since you have taken it upon yourself to remove your clothing, I assume you feel comfortable not being dressed in front of me.” Although Luis sounds like I’m putting him out, inconveniencing him, his lustful stare shows me how much he’s enjoying getting an eyeful.

Knowing I have to be smarter than I was earlier, I say, “I’m sorry,” hoping against all hope that being pliable will work in my favor.

Luis nods, still staring at my naked breasts. “I had wanted to take you back to Serendipity. That would be almost symbolic, do you not think? To forge our bond in the place we met. However, Lila has proven to be utmost stubborn and insubordinate.”

A tremor works its way up my spine, and I can’t quell it. “Is she okay?” I ask, needing to know she isn’t rotting in a ditch somewhere.

“Lila is fine,” Luis assures me and waves his hand in the air like we’re not discussing the woman I suspect he’s been dismembering. The finger and hand we received are hers, I’m sure of it. “Why did you… I mean… Luis, why did you send me her finger and hand?” I know I shouldn’t ask, but I can’t help myself.

“She hurt you in the past, so she must pay.” I gasp at the simplicity and harshness in those words. “I let you keep Neil, my gift to you. Before Coen and his dad cremated his remains, I hope you had fun with him.”

Bile rises in the back of my throat, and my throat feels as if it’s being constricted again as sweat pebbles on my forehead. “What do you mean?” I cry.

“I do not like repeating myself, darling Baby. You are mine, and I don’t let others touch what belongs to me.” The meaning is clear, it’s the implications I’m dreading. What will this mean for my guys?

A sob breaks free as I imagine Luis doing unspeakable things to the men I love above everything else. “Don’t hurt them,” I beg. “I—” My head flies to the side as Luis’ fist connects with my jaw. I hear the sound of the collision before I feel the pain or the drops of blood spilling from my split lip.

“Do not talk about any other men in my presence or at all.” I look into his green eyes that stare back at me with enough anger to freeze me in place.
