"I know. I just thought it was another omega friend. I didn't realize she was still in town."

"She came back."

"I see that."

Enzo grins as we step into the living room. ”Oh hey, it's so good to see you again." He turns to Oliver and Callan. "This is Trix, the beta who helped save my ass."

Callan smiles. “This is perfect. This meal is supposed to be a thank you to Aurora for saving Enzo’s life, but it's even better that you're here too. Welcome."

Trix smiles back at him. “You're too sweet. Nice choice, Rory."

I roll my eyes and shoot her a rude gesture. She just smirks in return.

Grey watches us carefully, noting the tension simmering between Rose and Trix. He visibly relaxes and I roll my eyes again. He notices and grimaces.

Fucking alphas.

"Well, come in, and sit down. Dinner should be ready shortly, but do any of you want a drink?" Callan asks, in perfect host mode.

"Me!" The three of us answer in unison, each raising our hands.

Enzo chuckles at the sight. "Long day, I take it?"

"You could say that." I groan as I sink into their wonderful couch.

"Have you made any further plans?” Oliver asks. “Any headway on your hope to leave the country?"

"Yes and no. Yes, I have a couple options ahead of me and no, I still haven't heard from anyone, but Trix reached out for me, so hopefully she'll be more successful."

Rose huffs. “You can all stop tiptoeing around the topic. She's moving in with you all. Her bags are already mostly packed."

I elbow her and she elbows me right back.

"Why didn't you bring them with you?" Oliver asks with a furrowed brow.

I shrug. “We didn't make any specific plans, and I wanted to make sure you hadn't changed your mind."

Grey frowns. “You are welcome to stay with us as long as you need. We're happy to have you."

"I can go grab your bags and bring them back after dinner,” Callan offers.

"It can wait until tomorrow."

"Wouldn't it be better if you were moved in and settled once your mother arrives," Rose points out.

I guess I deserve her meddling since I'm no better. Trix seated on her other side kind of proves it.

"Just to be clear, I'm accepting the offer of staying here and pretending to be considering your pack to buy myself time. I'm not agreeing to anything else." I look at each member of the pack, not wanting there to be any misunderstandings.

Grey nods. “Understood."

Oliver smiles. “Whatever you're comfortable with."

The other two nod their agreement as well.

"Thank you."

Oliver sits up straight across from me. “We're going to have a blast. You can build a much better nest here than in the rooms provided. Or you could share mine."
