"Can we go there first?" I ask, bouncing in my seat.

Oliver beams. ”If we leave soon while we're still full from breakfast. That way we have plenty of time."

"I'm excited. We haven't made a trip there in ages." Enzo helps me to my feet.

Grey grabs the tray of dirty dishes. "Meet in the living room once everyone's ready?"

I get ready in record time.

Chapter Twenty-Nine

THERE'S A LIGHTNESS in my chest as we reach the bookshop. The anticipation on Aurora's face and the glee on Oliver and Enzo’s settles something inside of me. Lately, our pack has been so busy with work and other responsibilities, we've been living rather separate lives. But Aurora's arrival has changed things, it's brought us back together. Even more now that we're working with her, helping her. If Callan hadn't had a surgery scheduled, he would've taken off for the day so he could spend it with us.

But it was more important for him to be available when Aurora's mother shows up. We don't know what exactly Aurora has had to live with, she certainly hasn't confided much in us yet, but from the way she reacts and the comments Rose made, the woman is a cruel piece of work.

I don't blame Aurora for wanting to flee the entire country. The laws here are such bullshit and the people in charge only build more and more power, new people rarely getting elected.

Sometimes I think it'll take a revolution for anything to actually change here.

Oliver grabs the door and holds it open for everyone, his smile bright and beaming as he stares after Aurora, watching her reaction when she steps inside.

I hurry to follow, not wanting to miss her taking in the admittedly odd place.

Aurora's jaw gapes, and her eyes widen even worse than when she finally got a look at our home library.

"Bringing her here might have been a mistake." Oliver leans over to speak low in my ear.

I shiver, ignoring the heat his breath against my skin sends through me. “Why?"

He presses closer against me, his scent of rain and books washing over me. “Because she's going to like it better than the town library and the one at home, so she'll be here all the time instead."

"There's one thing this place doesn't have that the others do that might change that." I turn so we’re pressed together front to front, our lips almost brushing.
