“Sure, babe. Will you call me when you are settled?”

Ylara swallowed. “Sure.”

“Do it, or I am coming to see you, and I will bring less fuzzy reinforcements.”

Ylara nodded. “I still have to call Zera.”

“You might want to get on that. She’s getting irritated that her omegas are pairing off.”

Etgar came up and hugged Ylara. “Your playing was wonderful.”

“Glad you enjoyed it. Don’t forget to take it with you when you leave.”

He paused. “You are serious?”

Vallu touched his hand, and she nodded. “I will explain it later.”

Ylara smiled and said, “And now I have to turn in.”

She looked around, and Riithan was out with the other alphas on the overlook.

She said farewell to her friends and headed up the stairs. Her energy had deserted her.

The fatigue hit fast, and nausea followed. She bolted to her bathroom and lost the dinner, complete with creampuffs.

She groaned and got sick again. She flushed, got up, and washed her face. Brushing her teeth was mandatory.

Ylara stepped out of her shoes and crawled into bed. She would deal with her clothes later.

She left the lights on and closed her eyes to waves of nausea.

She dozed, shivering and cursing silently for her body going haywire. It had been a pretty good night, all things considered.

Riithan walked into his room, looking for Ylara. His friends wanted to say goodnight. He saw her on the bed, still clothed like an exhausted child. Then he noticed her sweaty brow, the green cast to her skin, and the shivering.

Ylara’s breath was coming in fast pants. He knelt next to her. “Ylara, are you sick?”

“I am defective. Get your money back.” She sighed.

“Funny. What’s wrong?”

She turned carefully. “My guess would be morning sickness. Some get it early, and some never get it. Looks like I am lucky.”

He smoothed her hair from her face. She turned her head into his touch. His soul warmed at that small gesture of trust.

She was warm, and a moment later, she was cold.

“Ylara, I would like to try something to alleviate this issue. My beast is sure he can do it.”

She looked at him, her skin turned green, and she bolted out of bed and to the bathroom. The sound of her retching preceded a thump. “Are you all right?” He was already moving.

She called out. “I’m fine.”

She was leaning against the base of the sink. As he watched, she went up on her knees, pulled herself to the sink, washed her face, and brushed her teeth.

She swayed and looked at him. “Please, tell me I didn’t get anything in my hair.”
