She sauntered into the far corner of the room and curled up into a ball with a bitterharumphinstead.

“Oh no,” I said, clutching my heart. “She hates me now!”

“Nah. Trust me, she’s given me the silent treatment hundreds of time. She’ll forgive ya eventually. She just needs a little time to get over it, too.”

“How’d she do while you were on the road, anyway?”

“Ah, yeah, that new couch I bought to replace the old one?” Rust chuckled. “Sayonara.”

“No!” I gasped, laughing. “Really? She destroyed it?”

“Oh yeah. It’s completely gone-zo. Torn in half, basically.”

“That’swhy you want me back, isn’t it?” I teased.

“Er … kinda, yeah,” he said, deadpan.

I gasped and folded my arms. “Rust!”

“Kidding.” He laughed and threw himself on top of me, trying to smooch me, but I fought him off. “I’m kidding. I swear!”

I knew he was kidding, too, but I wanted to make him work for it.

“How do I know?” I teased. “Maybe all I am to you is a dog sitter?”

“Nah. Trust me, you’re so much more than that. You’re going to be the mother of my child. You’re the woman I want to spend the rest of my life with. And …”

Rust leaned closer and whispered in my ear the three magic words I’d been waiting so long to hear.

I almost didn’t believe it—but myheartdid. It churned with warm and fuzzy vibes.

“Say it again,” I said.

He whispered it again. “I love you, Isabelle.”

“I love you, too,” I said.

Minka jumped up and howled,“RUH-ROO!”

Rust and I practically died laughing. Minka came over to the side of the bed and finally let me pet her, her tail excitedly swinging.

“Told you she’d forgive you,” Rust said. “She loves you.”

I petted her head. “Aw, I love you, too, sweetie!”

“So the team’s having a get-together tonight at Tank’s place,” he said. “All the guys and girls will be there. I’d love it if you came as my date and met everybody.”

I squealed. “Rust! I’dloveto!”

“Perfect.” He grinned and sat up. “Well, I should probably get going. I’ve got some things to take care of before tonight.”

“No. You can’t go yet,” I said, clinging to his arms.

He chuckled. “No? Why not?”

I gave him my bedroom eyes. “Because we haven’t made upproperly,” I said, rubbing my hand between his legs.

His eyes rolled back, a pleasured grunt escaping him as I teased his growing bulge.
