Shut up Carmella.

I’ve just lit a fuse between two families. I should have kept quiet, but my child is nothing to be ashamed of. If it’s a he, he’s a prince, and one day, he’ll rule his father’s city.

Both Nic and Papa’s wide, shocked eyes find mine.

“I’ll kill him.” Nic clenches his jaw.

“Then you will start a war.” I state. “Either way, this child I carry is not a Giordano, it’s a De Luca.”

Papa stops Nic with a hand to his shoulder. “Does he know?” Papa questions.

“Yes, we haven’t discussed anything yet. I asked him to wait until after twelve weeks, when the pregnancy has a better chance.” I bow my head.

“Oh, you call the shots, do you? You that good of a fuck that you have the heir of Philadelphia by the balls?” Nic sneers at me.

“Well, it looks like we have something in common, big brother. By the sounds of it, you have Baltimore by the balls.” I smirk at him.

His face falls like I just gutted him. Good, now he knows how I feel.

“I’m going, Pa, you can’t stop me. This betrayal demands answers,” Nic growls.

Papa nods, and my eyes go wide as I watch Nic storm from the room.

“Nic,” Papa calls before he exits the room. “You won’t kill him. That’s an order.”

Nic nods and leaves.

“Papa, no. He will kill him. You know his temper.” I tug at my father’s jacket.

“He won’t kill him, Carmella. Fight him, yes. I have given the order, and your brother will obey.” Papa lifts my chin up so I can meet his eyes. “Now, call him. Inform him your brother and Ant are on their way and that he knows. Alessandro is not stupid, if he’s wise, he’ll make sure Leonardo is there. Then there will be no fighting.” He raises his brows in question.

I nod.

He turns me and pushes me toward the door. Just as I’m about to exit, he stops me. “Carmella, you also need to tell him I expect him and his father here tomorrow. This need’s sorting, and sorting quick. Do you understand me?”

I nod and run up to my room, dialing Alessandro’s phone number. I’ve never called him. I don’t even know that he will answer.

“Hey,” he answers calmly after the second ring. “Are you okay? I was worried when you didn’t text back last night.”

I sob into the phone at hearing his voice.

“Cam, what’s going on? Are you okay? Is the baby okay?” His voice is now laced with worry.

“We…we’re fine,” I sob.

“Then what’s with the tears,angelo?”

“I… I’ve fucked up, I’m sorry.” I sob and hiccup at the same time.

“Hey…shhh… Just tell me what’s happened,” he probes but still so gently.

“I haven’t been honest with you, I… I didn’t want you to know how sick the baby has been making me, but yesterday, Momma worked it out. She took me to the hospital. Al, they… they beat…”

“Who did they beat, Cam?” His voice now sounds furious.

“Sergio, they… they thought he was the father. Al, I couldn’t let him die because of us. Then Nic started saying that I had to get rid of our baby. He and Papa argued as Papa said that if Nic doesn’t father an heir and I’m carrying a boy that our son would become underboss of Boston.” I rush over my words. “I… I said that wouldn’t be possible, because if I have a son, he would become underboss of Philadelphia. Alessandro, I didn’t realize what I had said until it was too late.” I snuffle as I wipe my tears and snot from my nose.

“Damn right our son will be the future underboss of Philadelphia,” he states clearly.

“Al, Nic and Ant are on their way, my father ordered him not to kill you, but I’m scared. I don’t want them to hurt you.”

“No one is going to hurt me,angelo. I can handle Nic and Ant,” he states proudly.

“Papa said if you call Leo, that Nic and Ant won’t touch you. Can you go to Leo and Bea’s?” I plead.

“Leo is currently with me at my apartment anyway. But why would your Papa tell you to tell me that?” Al ponders.

“I don’t know. Papa also said, he expects you and your papa here tomorrow. He wants it sorted quickly he said.” I’m not sure what Papa is hoping to achieve; this whole situation is a clusterfuck.

“I’ll be there, angelo. Now have a nice bath, and try and get some rest. I will text you later.” He disconnects the call.
