He chuckles. I notice the logo on his watch and recognize it from a TV show I’d spent shameful hours of my life binge watching. When I compliment it, the two of us end up launching into a conversation about it.

I’m so engrossed that I don’t see Josie until I notice Theo staring at something and follow his gaze.

Much like Theo, Josie’s photo is downright pitiful when compared with the real thing. Her face is even prettier in person, and those golden curls gleam so bright they almost seem to glow. And her body…fuck.

Her body is everything that I love about women: curvy, soft, lush perfection. Full, round tits that sit high and perky on her chest, gently swollen hips, and I just know when she turns around, I’m sure to catch sight of a truly amazing ass.

She spots us both and heads over with a shy smile that makes my heart do flip-flops in my chest. “Hi, Alex?”

I nod, and she looks to the other man at the table. “Theo?”

He nods and rises to his feet again, and I do the same. “Pleasure to meet you. Josie, I presume?”

She nods and shakes his hand, then mine, and we all sit. “Sorry I’m late, I hope you guys weren’t waiting for me long,” she says apologetically.

“You’re right on time,” I assure her, “We were both early.”

“I was kind of expecting more traffic, so I over-planned for time a little bit,” Theo explains.

“Well, apparently I got all of yours, I hit a positively heinous snag,” Josie laughs, then points at the glass of water in front of her, “Is this mine?”

We both nod and she takes a drink. I know it’s just a fucking straw, but something about the sight of her lips wrapped around it…

I need to rein it the fuck in. I know they’re both hot, and it’s been a while since I’ve gotten any action, but even so.

Apparently this app really knows what it’s doing, though, because the chemistry between the three of us rapidly proves to be far more than just a physical attraction. As the three of us talk and get to know each other, the conversation flows like a river.

The only time it stops are when our server comes by to take our orders, then a little later when all three of us are eating, there are a few moments of contented silence while we’re all chowing down.

But beyond that, we just talk. We find out that Josie’s an only child, while Theo and I both have one younger sibling: his sister and my brother, not too far off in age. Although it seems Theo and his sister are a little closer than me and Blaine. Not out of animosity or anything, we just don’t see each other or talk much, since Blaine lives in Finland at the moment.

We also learn that Josie is a true native, born and raised here, and that she’s majorly allergic to soy and daisies, despite them being one of her favorite flowers.

I collect these little bits of information about them both like a magpie gathering shiny trinkets, and as the night wears on, I just find myself growing to like them more and more.

We talk careers, and I explain the oh-so-exciting life of a purchasing agent for a commercial architecture company, ordering door closers and toilet partitions for everything from one of the local middle schools to new shopping centers.

It’s not exactly a thrill a minute, but they still listen with interest, although I’m significantly more riveted hearing about Theo’s work as an anesthesiologist. “Has anyone ever woken up on you?” I ask him, “That’s always been one of my biggest fears, waking up during a surgery.”

Josie shudders. “Ugh, I’d never even thought about that, honestly, thank you for that nightmare.”

I laugh. “Sorry.”

Theo chuckles. “Fortunately, no, it hasn’t happened to me. It can happen, but it’s less than a one in a thousand chance, and even then, it’s usually just for a split second, we’ll immediately get you back under and chances are you won’t even remember it.”

“I don’t know if that makes me feel entirely better…that is not as big a number as I would hope for, I’d hope it was more like one in a million or something,” Josie remarks.

“Keep in mind that some of those instances are when people are on something that they don’t disclose; certain herbs or medications can interfere with it. Or one thing that I’ve heard can be a big problem is marijuana users not disclosing. We’re not going to narc on them, even in the states where it’s not legal, but for someone who uses it regularly, they’re probably gonna need a higher dose to keep them knocked out,” he explains.

“Huh, I wouldn’t have thought about that, but it makes sense,” I muse.

“Yup. So basically, just be honest with your doctor and you’re unlikely to ever have that problem,” he reassures us both.

“Well, that’s comforting,” Josie says with a little sigh of relief, “And I don’t really think any of that would be an issue, I’ve experimented with weed exactly twice. One joint at a college party and one shared pot brownie with my best friend, also back in college.”

I groan. “Oh, man, my one and only experience was godawful. I tried pot brownies, too, only my buddy didn’t warn me that the brownies were ‘special.’ I ate like four of them in one sitting and wound up so stoned I couldn’t get off the couch for a solid six hours.”

Theo laughs, and Josie’s eyebrows shoot up. “Oh, wow, yeah, I thought half of one was intense, you must have been seeing sounds and hearing colors.”
