“Listen, you little bitch—”

“Now, let’s not be mean.” I leaned over him on the table. “I mean, you’re tied to a table so you’re not really in the position to make threats. No, now it’s my turn to speak. I know you tried to kill me, and I know you watched as your friends raped Lyla Sky.”

He pulled against his restraints. “I didn’t try to kill you. I thought about it but no I couldn’t do that to Harrison. As for as the Lyla bitch, she was drunk. They were all drunk. She didn’t say no.”

“If she was too drunk to say no, then she was too drunk to say yes.” I rolled up my sleeves. “You thought about killing me? Funny, I thought about killing you, too.”

Across the room where Reggie couldn’t see was what I asked Lucian to bring, an axe, and a knife. “I’m not going to kill you, but I am going to make you wish I had.” Reggie’s eyes widened. He struggled against the restraints, but the metal cuffs wouldn’t give.

“What do you want?” Reggie asked, the rattling of the handcuffs filling the room.

“Nothing more than to do what I’m doing at this very moment.” I opened the door to let Lucian in and nodded to a chair in the far corner. He nodded as he walked in and silently took a seat.

Reggie’s breaths became frantic when he saw Lucian walk in as he continued to pull against the restraints. “You can’t hand me over to him! They’ll kill you!”

I smirked, leaning over him. “Oh, honey. I’m not handing you over to him,” I said in a sing-song voice. “He’s just here to watch. Sound familiar?”

“Addie, you can’t do this!” Reggie screamed.

I chuckled. “I’ll be right back. Don’t go away.” I grabbed the knife and left the room. I followed the sound of the men out the back door.

“Hey Red. He dead yet?” one of the men asked.

The men stood around a barrel with a fire inside.

“Why did you ask for this barrel outside?” He fished a pair of gloves out of his pocket. “And these fire-resistant gloves.”

The fire roared inside the barrel. After putting on the gloves I set the knife on the side of the barrel with the blade in the fire.

“What are you—”

When I pulled the burning hot blade away from the barrel, everyone stopped talking.

“I’ll be back.”

I walked back into the room to find Reggie still fighting his restraints and Lucian was sitting silently in the corner just where I had left him. He had agreed to be a just observer… no matter what happened.

When I closed the door behind me, Reggie stopped struggling. Eyes were wide and glossy, Reggie was shaking now, and it wasn’t because he was cold.

“Let me explain what’s going to happen.” I twirled the knife in my hand, looking down at the red-hot blade. “I was going to wait but at some point, you’re going to lose consciousness and I want you to know what’s going to happen to you. And if at some point you feel like dying don’t even worry about it. There’s a doctor here ready to revive you.” I stepped closer to him. “I’m not going to kill you, Reggie. I’m going to heat up that ax and I’m going to cut off your hands. With this hot blade I’m going to cut out your tongue, your ears, and remove your eyes. I hope you’re as strong as you pretend to be and survive all of that because that’s the point. I want you to survive. That poor girl that you watched three men rape had to survive it, too.” I shrugged. “Now. Let’s get started.”

I did exactly what I said I would. I started with his eyes. It wasn’t as easy as I thought it was going to be. Popping an eye out was tricky business and they were slippery. He howled when I sliced through the connective tissue.

I held both of his eyes in my hand. “Here’s looking at you, Reggie.” When I removed his ears, I also had to slice into his inner ear. Hearing without your ears was still possible so I wanted to make sure he was completely and utterly deaf. When I removed his tongue, he didn’t fight as much. Even though the blade was still piping hot there was still a lot of blood. He might have been going into shock.

Lucian sat stoic in the corner watching, not saying a word.

I opened the door. “Doctor, can you come take a look at him?” The doctor moved into the room swiftly and then stopped short. Reggie was making little noises. To me it mostly sounded like whining or grunting.

“I still have to cut off his hands, so I need him to survive. See what you can do about that.” I grabbed the ax, his tongue and eyes and went back outside.

“He stopped screaming,” said Charles.

“Oh, no. He’s still screaming. You just can’t hear him anymore.” I held the ax over the fire. Then I tossed his eyes into the fire. There was a popping noise.

“What the fuck was that?” Charles peered into the fire. “His balls?”

“Eyes.”
