“What?” She blinked, coming out of her thoughts.

“The one you love who doesn’t look at you twice?”

“Oh. It’s no one.” She half-smiled, trying to throw me off the scent, so I took a guess based on the sweet mechanic’s earlier reaction.

“It’s Kyran, isn’t it?” I whispered.

“No!” But then she bit her lip and pleaded, “Don’t tell anyone. He doesn’t know. No one knows. Although, Donovan might have an idea. And my old friend, Gen does. I think.”

“Your secret is safe with me. But who’s to say Kyran isn’t interested?”

“He doesn’t look at me like that. More like a younger, annoying sister. I’ve had a crush on him forever, and loved him for longer.”

“Oh, Grace.” I couldn’t help it. I tugged her into an embrace. “Then he’s stupid. A total asshole. We’ll drink to that tonight and then get drunk and flirty with the pool cue.”

She laughed. “It’s nice to have someone to drown my sorrows with.”

“We’re not drowning our sorrows. We’re going to make waves. Now buy something sexy.”

“Like this?” She held up a maxi dress.

“Oh hell no. We’re going to get you some short shorts, kinky boots, and whatever else the old songs sang about.”

Laughing, Grace shook her head, sorting through the clothes we’d brought into the changing room. “We’re going to need Mathilda.”

“Yes, we are.”
