“How're things?” she asked.

“Good.” I nodded, hoping Savannah didn’t choose that moment to come over. I hadn’t told her about Everleigh yet, which was a stupid move on my part. “You?”

“Great. We have a few parties back home, but I always love the ones here. A few friends were coming and invited me along. We’re heading out somewhere a bit livelier later on. You up for it?”

“I’m good, thanks.” I glanced at Kyran, urging him to help. He tried to hide a smile, so I got no help from that quarter. I asked Everleigh, “Where're your friends?”

“We’ll meet up with them soon. It’s good to see you, Donovan.”

“You, too.”

“It’s a pity you can’t come to the club with us. You’re a good dancer. Jason has two left feet don’t you, baby?”

Jason went to say something, but she spoke over him. “Remember that night in Colorado Springs?” she said to me instead. “The night when that woman thought you were an escort because she said, ‘no man dances like that without getting paid’?”

I laughed at the memory, recalling the time I’d spent with Everleigh and enjoyed it. “I remember how you didn't correct her, and then loaned me to her for the next dance. Thanks for that, by the way.”

She shrugged, her eyes twinkling. “I couldn’t let her down. She was so excited to dance with you. What did she do again?”

“I don’t think we need to go into that.”

Everleigh slipped into my arms and swayed with me before grabbing my ass. “She said she loves herself a good chunk of butt-muffin, and you should have seen his face!”

I stepped from her hold, trying not to stir shit with the guilt still lingering for dropping her, then going after Savannah. Jason snatched her hand in his and tugged her away from me, embarrassed. Her purse dropped to the floor with the move.

“Don’t be such a buzz kill,” she snapped at Jason, yanking her hand away so she could reach for her purse. Her curvaceous ass brushed my leg as she bent down, and I had to laugh at her pathetic attempts at getting my attention. I nudged Kyran to show him what she was up to. Kyran smiled in reply. Everleigh stood and spun, falling so close I had to catch her. She laughed, and I frowned, not liking her persistence. This could get dangerous and disrespectful to the woman I wanted if I didn’t nip this shit in the bud.

I glanced over to see if Savannah had seen it, but she was no longer there.

Where the fuck’s she gone?

I needed to go find her. I also needed to give her the heads up about Everleigh before tongues started to wag.

A crowd began to gather down by the fire Emily had ordered the others to put together.

“What’s going on?”

“Looks like a wolf race,” said Kyran, getting ready to head down there to watch. “Time to place a wager on the winner, gentlemen.”

Heading over, I cast my eyes over the crowd, trying to find Savannah. She wasn’t there.

Some of the pack had shifted into wolves, ready to race with their chosen rider on their back.

Sam from the bar, the one who’d got a little too close to Savannah while playing pool, shifted into his wolf in the blink of an eye, howling to the skies in anticipation. Oscar, his shadow, shifted next to him, and I noticed Grace.Oh good, she’ll know where Savannah is.

Then I noticed my mate, coming out of the crowd standing next to Sam’s wolf. She lifted the skirt of the long dark summer dress she wore, exposing her beautiful soft leg to the crowd.

What is she doing?

She lifted her leg, ready to climb astride Sam.

She’s his fucking rider?

“I don’t think so,” I growled, breaking into a run. Kyran must have noticed Grace getting ready to climb on Oscar because he was running beside me. But my focus was on Savannah. I had to get to her. I’d break Sam’s furry back if any of her skin touched it.

“Savannah!” I bellowed the second she gripped onto Sam’s fur to hoist herself up. Savannah jolted, turning to me with a frown.

“Donovan!” Grace whined, already astride Oscar. Gen scowled at us spoiling their fun from atop of the wolf in the middle of the two fucking trouble makers.
