Kyran threw himself into the scuffle, his voice booming with power. “Get her home, Jason. Now!”
Everleigh wasn’t having any of it. She clawed at whoever tried to calm her. Kyran ordered other wolves to help get her home and off my land. She was making a goddamn show of herself and I wanted to go back in time and kick my damn ass for even going there in the first place. Now Savannah was pissed at me.
Max came up beside me, and stunned, I watched Kyran’s wolves carry a screaming Everleigh off into the night.
“I must say,” Max said, straightening his jacket, “your cookouts are getting better for entertainment.”
“Bite me,” I snapped. Harrison and Max burst into hysterics.
Kyran joined us, almost as miserable as I was. Harrison managed to pull himself together to ask, “Where’s Grace?”
“Getting drunk,” Kyran mumbled. “She grabbed a knife and pointed it at my cock until I left.”
Harrison and Max cracked up even more. And although it was good to see a smile on Harrison’s face, it pissed me off at what had put it there.
“I need to go speak to Savannah,” I snapped, intending to leave them to their roars of laughter.
“Don’t,” Max said, pulling me back while laughing his butt off. “Give her time to cool down. She’ll need it. Have a beer with us and then make it up to her later.”
I relented, seeing the faces of my townspeople sticking around and enjoying the show. I bared my teeth their way, but no one reacted, some going back to their conversations, others finding it hilarious.
“At least you’ve mated,” Harrison told me, trying to be reassuring. “She won’t go far.”
“Here,” Kyran said grumpily, thrusting a paper cup into my hand.
I sniffed it. “What the hell is that?”
“Don’t ask. Just drink.”
I did so, knocking it back, and feeling the burn, irritated by my wolf who continued to pine for Savannah.And you can go shut the fuck up,asshole,I bit back, stunned at how fast everything could go to shit as the sounds of the celebration reared around us once more.
