“Yeah.” Her answer came a little to quick.

“Grace common I’m being serious.”

“So am I. He’s like the peanut to your butter, the milk to your shake, the apple to your pie.”

“Okay okay that’s enough. I get it.”

Rolling down my window I rested my head on top of my arm watching the road fly by. Turning onto the highway I saw the combines tail end before it started another pass. I was in the blind spot but I knew exactly who it was. I could tell by the red, white, and blue trucks parked along the road. Luke said his dad wanted one of each color to show everyone how much they loved our country.

I rolled up my window and turned to Gracey. “Thank you for all your help.”

“Of course.”

We drove the rest of the way into town with nothing but the radio on. Walking into the Home Depot I grabbed a cart and headed for the paint section. Gracey and I got the white ceiling paint first along with rollers and trays.

Grabbing different paint samples along the walls we chose just a light tan for the main living and kitchen area. I wanted some color for the bedroom so I went with a teal blue for one wall then white for the rest. The bathroom was a harder decision. I wanted it to be clean and bright but also have some color. So we got a dark grey to paint the cabinets with and some fun purple print rugs.

With everything in tow we headed back to the house to finish the remodel. I still needed to pick out carpet and tile but that would have to be another day. We had a shit ton of painting to get done.
