Page 64 of Warming His Bed

Hands on my hips, I hung my head and let out a long breath. The fact that I could be this easily undone by baked goods I didn’t deserve was one item in a long list of reasons I shouldn’t be wishing Sadie would stay.

I lifted my head to the sky and let out a curse.

After I slunk back inside, I washed my hands then stared down at her phone on the counter. I clicked the power button and debated whether I was the kind of person who invaded someone else’s privacy. If she had it set so you could see previews of her messages on her lock screen, then she must not mind if other people saw them.

I let out a disbelieving laugh when her home screen popped into view. What kind of person didn’t have a password on their phone?

The kind who broadcasts every emotion on her face and doesn’t have anything to hide.

I dropped the phone back on the counter like it was a hot dish and walked away. This wasn’t who I was—the kind of dude who snooped through women’s phones.

I trudged upstairs to take a shower. With any luck, Sadie would realize she forgot her phone and stop by to grab it while I was in the shower, so we wouldn’t have to see one another.
