CHAPTER18

She didn’t know how long she slept, but it was dark when she next opened her eyes, the horror of her existence slamming into her.

A gasp escaped her as she saw Antonio sitting at his desk, clicking through screens and typing away with abandon.

He was playing fucking games. She could see them on his monitor. Popular kids games, games bored mothers played while waiting for their kids, games professional gamers played on YouTube.

She finally remembered everything.

He turned to her, his expression questioning.

“I remember now.” The question in his mind morphed into devastation she didn’t understand, then a smugness she hated.

“Good. That will make this easier then.” His voice was the low rumble she remembered. From all the video chats they’d had while he seduced her. From the hotel room when he’d taken her, exquisitely. From the murmurs in her ears while his hips had slammed into her backside. She still couldn’t remember that part well, but it was in this room, she could recognize the sheets her head had been shoved roughly into.

“Make what easier?” she couldn’t resist asking, even as dread filled her in anticipation of his answer.

Instead of an answer, he nodded to the table next to her where a glass of water was. “I’d recommend a hot bath. I’ll help you if you need.”

She tested her limbs. They seemed to do what her brain told them to, which was an improvement. But she was so shaky. She sat up, and while it hurt, it wasn’t as bad as it had been before.

Her stomach revolted, though. She swallowed past the gagging in her throat as her mouth filled with saliva, amazed that she had any. Katie reached for the water, the glass heavy.

But she drank. After the last however long she’d been here, she didn’t know when she’d be offered water again. Even if it was drugged, she needed water to survive, and now she wanted to live to see her parents again.

And a hot bath sounded like heaven.

Could she trust this guy? No. But he seemed to be being nice to her. Or at least, if not nice, then he was meeting her needs. Comfy bed, water, bath. Would food be in her future?

She hoped so.

But when she looked at him, he brought on so many conflicting emotions, she settled for the one most comfortable right now.

Hate.

Clearly, she’d ignored some red flags in the beginning of what she’d thought they had. Call her stupid for that. But she wouldn’t do it again.

He’d lured her in through the game, trapped her, brought her halfway across the world, and put her here with a bunch of sex slaves, or whatever these girls here were. She’d be damned if she’d let him do whatever he had planned for her now.

“Where is Cassandra?” She could still hear skin slapping against skin as her friend had been repeatedly violated, her vacant eyes glassy as she totally checked out.

He looked at her with surprise. “Cassandra?”

Of course, he wouldn’t know their names. They were just women in cages to him.

“My friend who you took from the limo with me. You have her here, strapped to a chair, being used.”

She had no clue how she could remember all that. Everything else was a vague blur, even the things done to her. But she would never be able to forget her friend’s face as that had happened to her.

He closed his eyes and exhaled harshly on a muttered, “Fuck.”

Banging on his door interrupted whatever he was about to say, and a look of alarm passed over his features.

Abruptly, he stood, scooped her out of bed, and deposited her in the bathtub.

“Take a bath. Stay in here until he leaves.”

“Who?”
