The line clicked, and I stared at the phone until Davit gently prodded it out of my hands.

“Will we be able to trace the call?” Elias asked.

“I’ll try, but I doubt we’ll get anything useful,” Davit said.

“So are you going to meet?” Elias asked.

“Of course he is,” I responded.

Davit looked unsure, but I shook my head.

“We don’t have a choice,” I said.

“I don’t like it. But she’s right,” Davit agreed.

Elias looked like he wanted to argue, but after a moment, he stood down.

“So how are we going to play this?”

“I’m sure he’s going to have the area scouted, so we will have to go in alone,” Davit said.

“But reinforcements will be nearby,” Elias said.

Davit nodded, but he looked distant, preoccupied.

And then the phone buzzed.

I looked down, saw the address on the screen, and burned it into my memory.

Waited for the excruciating minutes to pass.

Wondered if I would ever see my daughter again.
