He takes my hand, leads me out of the bathroom — and there’s BJ waiting for me.
Standing there, brows low, arms folded over his chest.
“Parks, can we talk?” He walks towards me, blocking us in the narrow hall.
“Get away from me.” I push past him.
“Parks.” Beej shakes his head, reaching for me.
“Get away from me.” I shove his hands off of me.
“Magnolia—” BJ frowns, his heart looks like it’s breaking in his eyes but I know it’s all bullshit now.
“Get the fuck away from me.” I spit at him.
And then Henry steps in front of me, shoving his big brother.
“Oi, boys.” Jonah appears from behind BJ. “There are some eyes about tonight. Come on—”
Henry ignores him, ignores the flashing phones behind us, shakes his head at his brother.
Beej reaches around him for me and Henry shoves him away.
“Fuck off, man,” Henry tells him in a low voice.
BJ ignores him. “Magnolia—”
“No, BJ. Stop.” Henry’s blocks him again, shadowing BJ as he tries to get to me. “Don’t look at her, look at me — she’s off limits to you now.”
BJ gives him an angry look and a shove.
“Fuck off, Hen. I’m not doing this with you here.”
Henry pushes him back.
“Where do you want to do it then? Because I’m done with your shit.”
“Boys—” Jonah shakes his head, trying to keep them apart.
“Don’t you fucking start with me—” BJ points a finger in his brother’s face, and Henry smacks it away. They never fight like this.
“What the fuck are you doing?” Henry spits.
“I swear to god, Henry—” BJ shakes his head wildly. “If you don’t get out of my fucking face—”
“Can you just let me leave?” I sniffle as I try to step past him.
He blocks me again, looking for my eyes.
“I made a mistake.”
“With me or with her, Beej?”
He breathes out, heavy. “Parks — I wasn’t thinking, I didn’t think you’d even give a shit—”
“I told you I love you!” I yell.
“And then you left!” he yells back. “Like always. You ran away!” He stares at me.
