“Do you still talk to your real dad?”

At the mention of his real father, Nick’s face goes blank. “John Keller is the only real dad I ever had.”

I’m not sure how to respond. Then, from over my shoulder, I hear a feminine voice say, “Nick?”

Nick glances up and blinks in surprise. “Avery! How are you?”

A stunning blonde walks up to the table with a very tall, extremely muscular man by her side. Her cornflower blue eyes are bright and she’s very, very pregnant. “Ready to pop,” she announces.

“Congratulations,” Nick says and stands up to give her a quick hug. “You must be Ryker,” he says and extends a hand.

They shake and I can’t help but notice Ryker’s dark, rugged good looks. He also looks a little dangerous. Definitely someone you wouldn’t want to mess with because he’d kick your ass with minimal effort.

“Ryker, this is Nick Knight, photographer extraordinaire. Nick, this is my husband.” When she says “my husband,” love fills her eyes and Ryker wraps an arm around her waist.

“Nice to meet you,” Ryker says. “Ave told me you helped her out on a shoot a few months ago.”

Nick nods. “That’s right. Although, I think she was doing absolutely fine without me.”

“I normally do weddings, not magazine covers,” she explains. “I was really nervous so Easton set me up with Nick to get some pointers.”

Avery glances at me and smiles. “Hi, I’m Savannah,” I say, a little annoyed that Nick didn’t introduce me yet.

“I’m Avery,” she says and shakes my hand. “And, this is Ryker. And, this little girl,” she says and points to her stomach, “is kicking up a storm.”

When Ryker drops a kiss on her temple, she leans into his embrace. “I think Luka’s about ready to come out,” he says.

“I’m ready for that, too,” she says and everyone chuckles.

I’ve never seen a couple look so happy and completely head over heels in love. They can’t keep their hands off each other and Nick’s pretending like I’m invisible.

“So, what’re you doing in Vegas? Work or vacation?” Avery asks Nick.

“Work. We had a photo shoot for a new campaign.” He nods at me.

Finally, he acknowledges me. Geez.

“Oh, that’s exciting.” She glances down at me. “I thought you looked like a model.”

“Thanks,” I say. I decide I really like Avery. She seems super sweet, genuine and looks so adorable in her little, pink swing dress. “I thinkyoulook like a model.”

“Doesn’t she?” Ryker agrees and tugs her closer.

Avery blushes and shakes her head. “Oh, no. I prefer to be on the other side of the camera, thank you very much.”

“What about you?” Nick asks. “Vacation?”

“A little of both,” Ryker says.

“Ryker works at Platinum Security and needed to meet a client here. So, we decided to make it a road trip. With the baby coming, this is probably our last chance. At least for a while, anyway.”

“You must be so excited,” I say.

They share a smile and the look in their eyes makes me a little jealous. Makes me wonder why Nick didn’t tell them we were married. “Very,” Avery says. “It’s going to be an adjustment, for sure, but luckily little Luca has a lot of aunts and uncles at Platinum Security who are ready to help out and spoil her rotten.”

“Griff and Jax just told me they ordered her a t-shirt that says, “My Daddy Is A SEAL. And, it has a pink seal on it clapping its fins.” He rolls his whisky-colored eyes, but he’s smiling.

Avery laughs. “Between the three of you, she’s going to own a pink handgun by the time she’s five.”
