“Youlikeher.”

He had to be joking.

“I what?”

“That explains the bitter scent.” With that, he got up, then stepped in front of me, blocking my escape. “Whoever she is, she’s got you bad.”

“She does not.”And I wish you’d stop looking at me like that.He was acting like he had me all figured out, and I hated it.

Dustin folded his arms and cocked an eyebrow. “Uh-huh. Except for the fact that I’ve seen you act like this before. It was a few years ago, and I might not have understood it at the time, but now–”

“Not a word,” I said, cutting him off. “Not to anyone.”

“What? I wasn’t going to do anything.”

“This coming from someone who likes to gossip.”

“It isn’t gossip if it’s true.”

I let out a growl, which only caused him to smile even more. “I swear, if you tell Mom and Dad…”

Dustin held up his hands and slowly backed away. “Okay. Okay. I promise.”

“But?” There had to be a catch.

“You need to tell me everything. Well, not everything, but you get what I mean.”

“I don’t know why we’re talking about this. I don’t even know if I’m going back.” My heart wanted me to, as did my wolf, but at what cost?

“But you need to go back.”

“Why? So you can get another story?” My tone was harder than it needed to be.

“Bitter and defensive. She must be pretty hot.”

“I don’t know why I put up with you.”

“Because you love me and because I’m your baby brother.”

“Only by two years,” I reminded him. “I’d hardly call you my baby brother.” Not to mention I was shorter than him as well.

He lifted his shoulder in a partial shrug. “This is good.”

“Good?” I wasn’t so sure if I’d call it that.

“For you, I mean. It’s good for you.”

“Nice save. I’m going up to take a shower.”

“Better make it a cold one,” Dustin called after me as I climbed up to my room.

Rolling my eyes, I ducked into my room, grabbed a change of clothes, then hurried inside the bathroom and closed the door.

Give it some time.

In a few hours, the feelings or whatever I had would pass. Once that happened, my brother wouldn’t have anything to talk about.

Which means everything can go back to normal.
