“I really don’t mind taking an Uber,” I tell him as he leads me back to his motorcycle.

“My girl isn’t taking an Uber.”

“I’m not your girl,” I retort as he slips the helmet onto my head.

“Yeah, you are,” he whispers, dropping his head so that he can brush his lips against mine. “Have dinner with me again.”

I hate to admit it, even to myself, but I had fun tonight and I do want to see him again. I just worry for my heart. Can I really trust the man who threatened to fire me? No, I need to keep my guard up. If things go sour between us, he could easily have me fired just to get rid of me.

“What are you thinking about, baby girl?” He asks as he leans against his bike and pulls me in between his legs.

“What’s to stop you from firing me if things go sour between us?” I ask, speaking the words that have been holding me back all night.

“Your job is safe.”

“How can I be sure of that?” I demand, wanting some kind of promise or proof.

“Because I’m never leaving you and I’m never going to let you leave me.”

My heart shoots up into my throat and I stare at him, my mouth in a perfect “o”.

“You can’t say stuff like that,” I whisper and he just grins.

“Yeah. I can. You love it. Now get that sweet butt onto this bike. I need to feel you wrapped around me again already.”

He lifts me up before I can make a move for the bike, and I wrap my arms around his waist as soon as he’s settled in front of me.

As he cranks up the bike and we take off down the dark streets, I wonder if I’ve bitten off more than I can chew.

ChapterSeven

Wild

I spend our entire second date wondering if she’ll make out with me again tonight like she did on our first date.

I had dropped her off and waited while she fished the motel room key out of her pocket. As soon as it was in the lock though, I couldn’t hold back any longer.

I had her pinned to that flimsy piece of wood that the motel calls a door a second later. She had been on me too, her fingers tangling in my hair and pulling me closer. There wasn’t a millimeter of space between us, and it was nice that we were finally on the same page.

We had kissed like kids outside of her room until some actual kids rode past and honked at us. I had wanted to ignore them, but that seemed to have broken Bristle from whatever spell she was under and she was inside her room and calling goodnight to me before I could blink.

Since then, I’ve brought her dinner every night, but I’m only rewarded with quick pecks before I’m shoved out the door. She said that she was worried about people thinking she hadn’t earned this job, and I’m trying to respect that.

Tonight though, she’s mine.

I took her to a steak place downtown, and we had both eaten way too much. I had gotten to know more about her, though. Like the fact that she doesn’t like her mom and she really doesn’t like her mom’s boyfriend. There’s more to that story, but she hadn’t opened up and told me, so I’ll have to be patient.

I want her to trust me, to know that I’ll always be there for her, no matter what.

That’s going to take some time though, which is why I’ve been letting her set the pace between us. I’ll go as slow or (hopefully) as fast as she wants me to, as long as that proves to her that I’m in this for the long haul. As long as she finally realizes that I’m the only man for her.

She’s getting used to riding on the back of my bike. Her grip wasn’t as tight as it was on our first date, and I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss the feeling of her pressed up tight against me. She had almost strangled me on that first ride, but I surely would have died a happy man.

I told my brothers in the MC about her last night, and after they got done teasing me about settling down and being pussy whipped, they had congratulated me and told me to get my cut on her ASAP.

I couldn’t agree with them more.

I just need Bristle to have complete trust in me first and foremost.
