Chapter Fourteen

Conor

I may haveonly hadsex with Mia a handful of times, if even—but hey, it was still more than I could say I did with any other individual woman—but I knew without a single doubt that this woman, wrapped in my arms, was who I wanted to be with for the next fifty-plus years.

The sex just got better and better. Each time, Mia vocalized what she needed and wanted a little more, which only turned me the fuck on more.

But tears in her eyes afterward? I was not prepared for that.

Then when she gave the line about the bed, I wanted to laugh out loud. She was crying because I had a huge ass mother fucking bed and I wanted to keep her close instead.

Depending on how many kids we’d have, yeah, maybe we’d get a bigger bed than her queen someday. You know, to accommodate bad dreams and stuffed animals, but I was absolutely content with her smaller mattress.

Which brought up the point, where were we putting the bed?

Her place didn’t even have a fucking separate room to put the baby, and my place, even though it had rooms unlike her studio, wasn’t exactly prime real estate for a baby. Not above a bar, and not with a room the baby could someday call its own.

Then there was the fact we didn’t have a name yet. I was cool with the whole not finding out the sex thing, but the kid needed a name.

“We need to talk baby things soon,” I finally said out loud.

“What do you mean?” she asked. I reached down to maneuver the covers around us and as much as I wanted to have her pressed as close as her back to me allowed, I needed her face and eyes more. I moved so my abs pressed against her belly, grinning when the kid kicked or pushed or whatever it did, and Mia entwined our legs together.

“Names. Where we’re going to live. Those things.”

“Oh.” She nodded a few times as if thinking. “I don’t think living here is that great of an idea, to be honest.”

I agreed, but wanted to hear her reasoning. “Ok. Why?”

She lifted her brows and moved to sit up, pushing against the bed and moving to allow her belly space. I loved watching as her movements changed to make way for her belly.

I moved to my back and pushed back so I could rest against the headboard, watching her. I crossed my arms over my chest and waited for what she had to say, loving the fact that she didn’t bother to pull the sheet with her to cover her tits.

“Well first, it’s over a bar. Not exactly a great environment for a child. As an infant, it wouldn’t be bad, but I don’t think it would be so great with a toddler.” She shrugged. “I have no problem with the baby hanging around downstairs while you’re opening and whatever, but definitely not anywhere near the place when it starts to get busy.”

“I agree.” I didn’t think she was expecting me to agree so easily.

“O-kay…”

Nope. She definitely didn’t think I’d agree so quickly.

“Well, also, there’s not really room for the baby. Like, there’s not a physical room for it.”

Again, I agreed, but just to be a fucker… “I could always frame out another room, take away some square footage from this room and the closet.”

She thought about it, her eyes scanning the room as she pondered that. “Yeah…” She nodded in that thoughtful way of hers. “Yeah, I guess that could work.”

She continued to look around the room before pointing to the door to my room. “You probably had some woman right there against the door.”

I grinned. I hadn’t thought about that, but yeah, she would go there.

“And probably in your bathroom, too. Not to mention the kitchen, the couch. Hell, you probably even got some on the stairs leading up here.”

I chuckled. “I get it. You don’t want to live where I had my…looser ways.”

She frowned. “Is that bad of me? I mean, I know you swear you’re a changed man, and I really do believe you, but for me personally, the reminder is all over.”

I reached for her, pulling her by her neck until she crawled to sit right next to me. “I was thinking about finding an apartment or a house with you. I just wanted to hear what you had to say.”
