Squeezed her lips together, and dropped her finger from my chest.

All so very abruptly.

“Let’s watch your show.”

Smirking, I couldn’t let what just transpired just...end there.

“No, what just happened, Sav?”

She looked at me then, her brows up, her eyes wide open, and her face in what could only be described as hoity-toity. A face I’d expect from a royal someone or another, who just stepped in chewing gum.

“I maybe just realized,” she started, looking away again, “there may kind of sort of potentially be some sort of fiction mimicking reality in this book. Just...on the level of the trope.”

“And what’s a trope, in these romance books of yours?” I couldn’t drop the smirk from my face if I tried. I was really enjoying this moment.

“Friends to lovers. Well, almost enemies to lovers, too,” she answered, matter-of-factly. “Now if we can just watch you make an ass of yourself on national television, that would make me feel a little better for right now.” When she reached for my phone, the roles reversed now, I held it out of her reach.

“How does your book end, Savannah?” Still couldn’t let any of this go.

It felt right.

This back to teasing, back to joking, back to normal version of Savannah and me that we found over the last couple of days.

And if I had a freak spring snowstorm to thank for it, I was all about it.

Thank you, Colorado weather.

“I haven’t read the end of the book yet. It just released on Tuesday, and I read a different book when I got here.” She reached further for the phone, her chest pushing into my arm and then rolling over to my chest. Her body was flush to mine, and I loved every moment.

“Don’t be silly, Savannah Slate. How does your book end?” I tried again.

This time, I relaxed my arm enough so she could grab the phone, but with my other arm, I swept her more fully on my lap.

Startled, Savannah’s eyes met mine the same moment her core met my hardening cock.

“How does your story end, Sav?” I whispered, keeping the moment silent and still.

Her breath hitched before she whispered back, “They live happily ever after. Mostly. There’s some conflict of personalities but they’ll love each other forever.”

I winked at her. “That’s what I thought,” I added, before bringing my mouth close to hers.

I could leave a fraction of space between us.

I had no doubt that she’d close the gap.

But after this morning...

There was no sense waiting.

Our mouths met, the phone was forgotten, and Savannah’s hands were on my shoulders, her nails digging into my shoulders as she pressed her body closer. I wrapped my arms around her, squeezing her close.

If there was one thing I hoped would never be taken away from me, it was the ability to kiss Savannah Slate.

I didn’t realize how much I missed it.

It may have only been one night, and maybe I’d let her put me to the side after, but I was older and wiser now.

This was not changing.
