“Who would do that?” Embry asks.

“We don’t know. Kingston thinks Lane, his protégé, did it. They’re going to tow it to the station and see if there are any prints or evidence.”

“I’m so sorry, sweetie,” Tana pats my hand and smiles at me.

“It’s okay. I don’t need the pity,” I shrug. “Just one less thing I have to worry about paying for.” I don’t tell them that I didn’t pay for it since I kind of stole it from my parents. Since I’ve gotten tickets in it and haven’t been hauled in, they didn’t report it stolen. Maybe they forgot they had it. I know it might seem like I don’t care, but I do. I’m upset and barely holding it together.

Tana sensing I need a change of subject, does just that.

“We can’t wait for you guys to come for Christmas. It’s been a while since Kingston had a girlfriend. The last ones were so rude. We’re so glad he met you. You are much sweeter and nicer than the others,” Tana says.

“I enjoyed meeting all of your families. I’m thankful for Kingston,” I reply with a smile.

“He loves you,” Tana states and Embry nods.

“He does what now?” I gasp at the thought. Could it be true?

I’m sure I didn’t hear her correctly.

“He loves you. I can tell by the way he looks at you and the way he talks about you,” Tana grins.

“He talks about me?” Why would he do that? I’m nothing special.

“Yeah, we call to check up on him and he raves about you,” Embry says.

“It’s been like a week,” I object.

“Sometimes you can just tell,” Tana smiles, “and it’s quite cute.”

“I have to admit that I’m falling for him. And he’s good to my little brother,” I nod.

“We should go dress shopping,” Tana claps her hands together suddenly.

“Dress shopping?” Umm what?

Embry and Tana laugh, “When our mother says come over for Christmas dinner, it doesn’t mean a casual dinner in PJs while we open presents. It’s a formal affair, a gala. It’s all out.”

Well shoot.

“I see. So yeah, I guess we should go dress shopping soon. I have to see how much I have in tips,” I tell them.

“Are you free tomorrow?” Embry asks, ignoring the tip part.

“I’ll have to see if the old man will let me out of the house for a few hours,” I laugh. The sisters giggle and I’m glad I had lunch with them. It was a distraction from the disaster of my car.

I wave goodbye and walk back over to the gym, but not before getting a mint chocolate latte and chatting with Noelle about Dasher. Seems like they’re coming along.

“I’m back,” I smile as King opens the door for me and he winces as he hugs me. He must have been waiting for me.

“Sore?”

“Yeah,” he nods.

“I guess I’m going dress shopping tomorrow, apparently your mom goes all out,” I grumble. “Do you know if Thorn got my tip jar? Did you?”

He ignores that.

“Yeah, I forgot to tell you about dress shopping,” he grins sheepishly, running a hand over the back of his neck.
